I am able to edit another person's forum post

So just now, I clicked on a rather innocent forum post titled “good morning everyone!”

As I went to reply, I noticed that there was an edit button on the post. I thought “that can’t be right”, so I clicked it. And it brought up the post editor, complete with the text that OP had typed. I did not actually attempt to edit their text, since I would probably be violating the forum’s code of conduct.

It’s only happening on that specific post, but the edit button stays there even after restarting my browser. (I first discovered this on Firefox, but the same behaviour persists on Chrome)

Please upvote so Blizzard can fix this potential security flaw.

It’s not a security flaw, it’s just SunsetHippo. Dude makes all his posts wikis for some reason.

Trust level 3 posters (or maybe all idk) can create an editable thread for others if they select it to be such.

Posters can let others edit their topics. It’s not a security flaw.

How do you do that btw?

I learned about this a couple of weeks ago

When you create a topic (or a single post), you’ll see a little wrench under your post. It says “post admin actions”. Click that and it’ll allow you to make your thread/post a wiki.

I’ll add that Trust Level 3 is needed to create a Wiki post (but only Level 2 is needed to edit one.)

yeah, i used it alot when i made guides for heroes

i like to think it as a social experiment…but mostly because im bored and i want to see what people would do

Oh oops.

I think I failed the test…

nah, i mean, you didnt try to twist my words into something offensive…or just be offensive

Why would anyone do that, though?
That’s just cruel

to try and tarnish another forum user’s reputation, as many people dont check to see who made said edit

It’s fun finding ways to change it without altering the original message. Thanks for the fun post!

I wonder if one of these days everyone will respond to one of those threads by editing their comments into the original post. XD

Is there a max character limit per post I wonder?

maybe, but once i madea thread as a petition for a paris skin for widowmaker, where people added their names to the OP

Hey that’s a neat idea. It does about the same thing as liking the post, but with a twist.

plus, it shows that people are willinig to be public about wanting something

Ohh, that’s an interesting way to use it.

Sadly, we could never know if all those names added were by those that have the name.
