Suravasa - beyond gutter trash. Ugly to look at. Ugly to play in. Large, convoluted, stupid level. Obnoxious design. I will instantly quit this map as soon as the game loads.
New Junk City - almost just as bad. It’s a total eyesore as well, and just simply not fun and boring as hell
nu-Numbani - well, they removed my favorite part of the whole level, the tree atrium beside the spawn. Absolutely hate it.
Throne of Anubis - holy crap it’s ANOTHER brown level with uninspired design! Boring layout. Wake me up when this game is over
Hanaoka - not the worst, but just why? Give us the OG non trash point version back. It’s also… very BROWN again. Why are you obsessed with brown levels, Blizzard?
Samoa and Runasapi have a ton of haters too it sounds like but I like these, at least they are eye pleasing and different than other levels, I’d keep these personally
NJC is nowhere near the absolute travesty of Paraiso, a hybrid map where normally you rejoice when you see you get to play hybrid, but nope its just paraiso, the most Paris thing to exist, and should probably be removed because no amount of reworking will fix it without just making it an entirely new map.
No for me its mostly just Paraiso because its without a doubt the worst and I dont care about anyone elses opinion because theyre wrong. The map is garbage and shouldve been removed ages ago, its never been good, its never been fun, its just a map of endless disgusting and uncomfortable angles regardless of what part of the map youre on, all that changes is which team is the one feeling awkward.
First point is literally awful for the defenders, second point is atrocious for attackers, last point is just bland and no one cares about it. Remove it yesterday.
I wish they’d just get rid of the walking simulators and failed “Hard Point” style game modes. They just don’t work. I’m not too sure how they escaped the testing phase but… they never should have. The fact that we gave up 2-Cap for these things is just crazy.
Whats worse is, it seems like they’re weighted a lot heavier than the others. They come up so frequently, back to back to back to back. When I’m lobby hunting (IE looking for a lobby that isn’t them), I’ll usually have to backout of the “Assemble” stage 4 or 5 times back to back before I get a regular map that is actually enjoyable. Then maybe I get 1 more normal map, and I’m back into the rotation of 3-5 bad maps that I gotta keep leaving again.
Just give us a map filter at this point and save everyone some headache.
I wish they would just get rid of these from QP as well. They removed them from comp for being awful to play on and problematic but we still have to deal with them coming up in QP all the time. I just leave when I get them 99% of the time.
All flashpoint and push maps are awfull imo. The core design of these maps is large, open, sometimes sunken arenas or long shooting ranges. Overwatch doesn’t work well with those large, bare bones maps. Overwatch works best when maps help (force) people into position, like King’s Row.
Out of the old maps I also hate Numbani for similar reasons.
I always skipped Numbani then I tried it again when the released the rework. Played 2 games and both of them we got spawn-camped on 1st attack and didn’t capture point. Haven’t played it since.
Did they introduce a new spawn for defenders for 2nd point? That was such a stupidly long walk that 2nd point was often skipped as the defenders never got back for a fight until it was nearly capped. And if it worked out the whole team did get back then the attackers could get spawn camped in 2nd spawn.
Worst map in the game. It used to be by far the worst, but now we have Flash to compete with it and anubis is pretty bad too.
I can at least understand not having hero bans in quick play. It’s a casual mode for you to learn heroes. If the hero has a 100% ban rate, you can’t even practice them in actual games which would be lame. Or if you just want to kick back and try to have fun on a hero you like.
Forcing us to play maps that were deemed to be too bad for competitive on the other hand is pointless. They removed Horizon and Paris from the map pool entirely when people hated playing on them so I’m unsure why they won’t do it with those as well.
There are some maps that I used to like but which I’ve slowly gone off of because of most games on them finishing in the same place - usually on 2nd point.
Route-66 too often ends just as you turn the corner before capping 2nd.
Shambali too often ends at the top of the hill just before turning the corner to get to cap 2nd.
Gibraltar too often ends either just through the big gate after capping first and after it closes again, or on the little uphill before capping 2nd. Getting back to move cart in that area with the enemy all on good high-grounds can be a nightmare.
Paraiso too often ends on the little hill before turning right to cap 2nd. Too much high-ground for the defenders makes it very difficult for a majority of heroes, especially tanks.
Numbani ends too often after getting spawn camped in attacker 1st or 2nd spawn for long enough to run the clock right down or by not capturing 1st point.
There are others that consistently end in the same place.
Not the QP I play. It’s counterwatch non-stop. Try-hards swap constantly. The perks made a little difference at first, but people now realise they get perks pretty quick later in the game so swapping is no different then.
I played comp for a week and it was more chill than QP is now.
