Hypothetical Sombra Rework

Just like many others, I love watching Sombra. And I love thinking of hypothetical reworks. I don’t expect it to be taken seriously.

But what if: Sombra became subtle, just like the first version in Overwatch 1?

Abilities:
Hack: Disables a few abilities for 3 seconds. Most abilities would stay available. Also, over 3 seconds, decreases HP by 50. If opponent’s teammate is near (within 4m) the damage (virus) spreads to that teammate, and subsequent teammates in a chain, dealing 50 HP damage to them. (8 second cooldown)

Health Packs are hacked for 60 seconds (hacking Objects, BOB and Health Packs = 8 second cooldown).

Translocator: When thrown and deployed, lasts infinitely but can be destroyed. When activated, teleports Sombra to Translatocator. (6 second cooldown)

Invisibility: Sombra becomes invisible for 6 seconds and has 50% increased movement speed. Detectable by sight and sound (quieter footsteps than someone fully visible) if within 4m of the opponent. (6 second cooldown after stealth breaks)

EMP (Ultimate ability): Same effect as Hack but Sombra’s virus emanates from herself to opponents 4m or closer to herself. (0.65 second cast time and high-medium cost)

Passive “Opportunist”: Identical to original. If opponents have 1/2 or less than original HP, Sombra can detect them through walls.

Pro: Sombra will be subtle like the original. And this kit can be balanced because opponents will have most of their abilities intact. Balance = deciding which abilities should be intact and numbers.

Con: This version of virus may discourage opponents from working together. It could create a toxic environment in opponents’ team.

To overcome Con, I think virus should instantly spread when opponent is hacked. The virus should not spread during the rest of the duration of applied damage.

With this version, Sombra could be deadly sometimes and most of the time subtle. But I don’t know if my idea is good.

Edit: I think Blizzard will think of a much better Rework. But I hope my idea shows that some of Blizzard’s original published ideas were great!

im sorry but that translocator is just an old version and was one of the most problematic things about her old kits- she should not have that back in my opinion (and im speaking as somebody who loved that version of it)

I mean, the first original version of that ability had it destroy itself after 60 seconds so you actually had to plan your placements in advance and not just place and forget- and even that was super powerful. in general the ability to just teleport to who knows where, who knows how far away- mid-combat or just while being ambushed is not good for gameplay and lacks most balance. especially with such a short cooldown like that.

I think the current version of that ability is pretty bad- good for mobility though and thats kinda how it was used in the trailer as well.. i think its decent where it is now, could use a rework maybe- but it should not go back to the old versions.

I prefer the original version: The Translocator was indestructible and lasted for 15 seconds. I debated in my head about including the original.

An alternative would be that the Translocator would be indestructible if Sombra is within its range. If Sombra exits its range or uses it, it’s destroyed and starts a 2 second cooldown.

That would encourage using the Translocator to travel. But it can still be used as a short range escape. Sombra would be a bit less predictable than Tracer.
