Humans are not born evil

I have a hard time thinking about what kind of experience could force someone to cook a baby and then feed it to it’s mother. But people have done that. Sometimes people are just insane, and that may be the simple version of it.

He could of had a mental illness that made him evil

Reaper does bad things because he is just underpowered. He isn’t evil, he just wants his place in the overwatch meta!

Humans are inherently born evil and we learn as we grow up how to be better people lol

Literally what does a baby when it is hungry? It cries and cries and cries and cries and it damages your sanity until you feed it. What does a baby do when you take it’s toy away so you can prep it for lunch? Cry and throw a tantrum like a selfish and irritating little jerk lol

There are many adults that do this aswell

Lol and ?

i tried to burn down my house at 3 years old with my family inside

Pretty sure i just grew into my evil

Woah timeout! Mice /=/ Humans. The social structure fell a part because a few dominant mice took all the females for themselves. The others crowded around food sources and attacked each other since they didn’t have a mate. Heck, they even resorted to pansexuality due to how “lonely” they were! Humans don’t reproduce with a harem of women for one specific guy, nor do they have to deal with the confined space issue. Even with population growth, it will take a VERY long time for Earth to be overcrowded. What does this have to do with the original topic? Nothing, but I just wanted to explain why I think those experiments receive too much credit.

Yeas, I would have to agree with that. Examine the inequality of wealth in our social structure. We don’t hoard mates, however, we hoard money, so we can get mates.

I think a more important idea to consider is the parallels between the stages of the colony’s growth and death compared to human social structures, such as the collapse of the Roman empire.

Traditional East Indian culture argues otherwise here.

They were beautiful, and in their own way, perfect.

If just 1% of the population is effective enough at exhausting Earth’s available resources then the same effect of overcrowding will occur without actual overcrowding. I know I mentioned above about the overcrowding but it is important to note that the colony of mice never reached it’s maximum capacity. It only about 80%

So in conclusion one could argue that there are enough parallels between the mice and humans that it wouldn’t be unreasonable to assume that the entire process of the rise and then fall of the mice colony is related to the process of entropy to the extent of that at the very least, it warrants further exploration.

The thread title is Humans are not born evil. The thread lived so here we are.

Were they the ones labeled as “The Beautiful Ones”? If so, curse you science!

Humans aren’t born evil. humans are born selfish.

It’s taught. Humans aren’t born anything. Good and Evil are fundamental principles to the world. They aren’t traits that anyone has or doesn’t have. There is Good and Evil in everyone.

Is it because he’s Hispanic? He’s most likely Catholic then, not Christian, and yes there’s a difference.

I think your wrong, humans are born evil and selfish. There is no creature who is more cruel than human childs, by the way they dont have moral.

Don’t discount the role of biology in behavior. A cursory look at twin studies will tell you that much.

It’s also worth noting that “evil” by society’s standards, is strongly associated with two things:

  1. Impulsivity
  2. Empathy

Impulsivity has a strong biological component in that it is influenced by brain structure. The size and development of your frontal cortex, the part of your brain which allows for higher executive thinking and impulse control is much smaller in prison populations.

Incidentally, ADHD is also much more prevalent in prison populations than in the general population.

Empathy entails feeling the emotions that someone else is experiencing. People with normal empathy levels tend not to want to hurt others because it also makes them feel bad.

But the triggering of this mirrored emotion is determined by brain structure. Some people have a lack of empathy (ie, it exists but is diminished compared to the normal population, see developmental disorders such as autism), and some do not have the capacity at all (ie, psychopaths/sociopaths).

Science shows that empathy can be encouraged and improved by getting people better aware of considering others…but the person has to have that emotion there to begin with.

In other words, if someone lacks the ability to have a certain emotional response we cannot make them.

To give an example of this, consider that under a brain scan most people’s brains light up with activity in different patterns when they are shown people or objects. In other words, the brain is distinguishing the people and the objects.

But when people who lack empathy were shown people and objects, their brains reacted the same way. In other words, people were seen the same as objects. Simply tools to get things done and not regarded in any emotional capacity.

As biologic components, impulsivity and a lack of empathy certainly do prime a person’s behavior for “evil”.

And if it’s biological, it’s genetic. And if it’s genetic…well…you are born with it.

Just thought I’d toss a bit of science into this conversation.
