How'd you find your main?

Currently maining Moira. Got to admit, I found her by accident. I was pretty much dps main before, but the team was always missing a healer. I tried Mercy, Ana and quite a lot of Lucio. But no one kind of felt like character I can somehow relate. It felt like playing a role in theatre, that does not fit me at all.
When they released Moira, I just fell in love with her character. Been on that road pretty much since.

I could actually aim with mccree so I guess I just gravitated to him
I mean I have 50% accuracy with mccree and >35% with the rest

I was originally a Lucio main. I liked his movement, the wallride, how good his ult could be. Over time I got frustrated with how slow he healed and switched to Mercy. Overwatch is my first FPS, so I didn’t feel confident enough with my aim to run Ana.

Nowadays, I think Ana or Reinhardt is more likely to be my new main. Playing Mercy now is just an exercise in futility.

I was filling into tank and D.Va looked the most appealing tank for me.

Liked Junkrats character

Was familiar with Junkrats playstyle from a Tf2 background with Demoman playtime.

I felt he was better than Demo as you could Mine Jump without taking Self Damage and the Grenades were spheres not Pipes so they didn’t randomly Tumble. Plus Concussion had so much you could do with it compared to Stickybombs or Demoknight Shields.

Loved the fact that when you died you could take down the enemy with you.

He was Australian

Badabing badaboom

I was drawn to Zenyatta because he was a DPS disguised as a support. I had a lot of fun with him (and also Lucio) and bought the golden orbs.

Then Brigitte came out.

I grew to become disgusted by the support category, so I left to become a true Damage main.

I’m a big fan of CQC and shotguns, but considering Reaper is a bit bare-bones and Roadhog flat-out sucks I opted for the most unorthodox hero possible.

So, Doomfist it was… and so it shall be… at least until Blizzard eventually caves into the whining babies screaming for nerfs and completely butchers him.

I know it’s weird… but yeah.

It kinda lost it’s luster after seeing people going “unga bunga ooka chaka” and just face-rolling over their keyboard to kill people and heal their team. It really put a damper on the hours I put into Zen trying to improve my aim and positioning, but seeing this behemoth with her own personal shield put practically no practice or effort into it.

I don’t even like having her on my team, since having 350 (and then 300) HP kinda felt like cheating, since I would win 1v1’s against Tracer’s, Genji’s, etc that I shouldn’t have. Supporting in general just drifted further into the stigma that it was easy… seeing it becoming more of reality is repulsive and I just got sick of it.

  • Soldier: 76 - I was always the assault-rifle guy in video games, and Soldier and I clung on together with our matching playstyles.
  • Mei - The fact she can counter flankers and is cute made me wanna play with this little demon-spawn - I mean, Hero more.
  • Orisa - At first, I thought I’d play Rein as my Main Tank. But Orisa fits my playstyle as a Tank a lot more.
  • Ana - She was the second Hero and Support I learned after Lucio. I liked her damage and healing capabilities, and the skill needed to play her effectively tests my aim and positioning.
  • Mercy - She was the fourth Hero and Support I learned after Zenyatta. I also told myself that I should at least get a grasp of Mercy in case I needed to play her.

Quick note: I’m naming my main Heroes per Class, not necessarily my most-played Heroes.

Cheers!

I saw DSPStanky and said “I wanna be that guy!” Now I’m a golden gun Lucio main.

I just recently began playing OW. I started out with Soldier: 76 since he had the option to heal a small amount at a time. I experimented with his ult a time or two and saw how effective it was.

The I experimented with D.Va. I discovered the usefulness of a missile barrage, especially on strong heroes. Then I had opportunities to use her Ult and discovered how effective that was.

I’m just now experimenting with Lucio’ and discovering the joys of “Crossfading” plus speeding the effect up.

In the end, I selected this trio due to its convenience and ease of use. However, if I did have to select a main, I’d go with Soldier because of his dual DPS/Healer abilities. However, D.Va comes a close second. Everytime I go into combat, I’m going to bop back and forth between these three until the rest of the group has an idea of what they want to do, and then I’ll make my choice to try and complement the team.

Was playing different heroes back at launch and found Tracer to be the hero I want to play a lot. I have became so attached  to her that I can’t even stop thinking about her, even today. That’s really why I play her a lot. My other mains are mostly tanks and supports because I flexed for my dps friend for the first five season. So Tracer/Tank/Support player here. Tracer should be in her own category for me because I don’t have the intention to play any other dps heroes. I can play some though but they’re only my backup if she doesn’t work out.

Should I do it next season?

For Xbox, Overwatch was my first online game. I tried all heroes (Ana was just announced, didn’t come out yet) and liked Reinhardt’s kit and thought Mercy was helpful since her primary didn’t require aim. Then after 20 hours or so I tried out D.va. Boy, she was very fun and mobile for a tank. I also liked Junkrat due to his slight lack of aim and the satisfying mine kills. Mei was easy and her primary was funny to use to headshot after the enemy is frozen.

Now on PC (a month ago I built my first gaming PC): I remembered PC being called more precise or accurate, not sure which one. So I decided to try out the snipers and hitscans on PC and my god Widowmaker was actually decent. I main Widowmaker, Reinhardt and D.va on PC. Still not used to using Mei without aim assist. Will work on that.

I was once a 76 main, after getting tired of nobody playing healer in competitive I decided to pick up Lucio.

I used to watch a lot of streams before I got OW and D.Va was the hero that I liked the most from what I’ve seen.

When I got it - D.Va was the only one familiar with. I knew her kit + I LOVED NUKING PEOPLE.

Then , All of a sudden I started playing Genji - Mainly because of his lore and cool kit. But I sucked at him and after 20 hours I dropped him.

Then started playing Comp - and a ton lot of Reaper , but didn’t like him at all and I don’t know why people didn’t play healer. So I decided to pick one - MERCY.

Yeah , Mercy! At first , I was complete garbage but after spending weeks to understand completely her kit I’ve managed to climb to Platinum (I recently found out about the SR abuse that lot of Mercy players used).
She was the perfect hero for me - Strong hero even though she was F-Tier back in the days of season 5 /early season 6 and I really liked her theme - Beautiful Angel, Bringing people back to life(I’ve played multiple games with heroes having the concept of ressurecting a dead ally in their kit).
Then - Valkyrie came! And It was like a hell! They took her kit to a new OP monster level! Yes , I admit at first It was fun being OP , but I didn’t realize it at first that I’ll soon start hating her for that. Then they started tuning her down little by little and I suddenly realized that she’s no longer the hero I enjoyed back in the days. She wasn’t the Guardian Angel I’ve fallen in love with.

I had a period of time when I used to play a lot of Sombra and Widowmaker - But didn’t consider them as my mains , just simply one of the heroes I’ve enjoyed the most.

Then , After months of being forced to play and tired of Mercy , I just simply gave up from her - and decided to play a hero considered being a Troll Pick (cuz everyone loves playing Off-Meta heroes) - Ana. Her kit was amazing and really well designed, also extremely fun to play and use. And still play/main her since then.

Right now - I’m kinda like a flex main. I play everything my team want me to/needs!

But the heroes I enjoy are now more then ever before.

my aussie friend found my current main actually but i was a tracer/d.va main when i first started playing overwatch on my ps4 or xbox one (on original xbox account) she recommended i start off as D.va which i did and got decetn with D.va and i did for awhile got good with Tracer as well but after the nerf i fell apart but i can still dominate as D.va

I like playing fast characters and it was between genji and tracer, i liked tracer’s play style a lot more so it was the obvious choice.

For d.va it was when i first decided to branch out and play more characters instead of just tracer and i really liked her play style compared to other tanks (winston’s also fun for me but i don’t play him much for some reason)

For lucio the team always need a healer and i decided to pick lucio since he seemed interesting and i started to really love his play style, i’ll play him frequently even when my team already has 2 healers nowadays.

For mei it was in the early days where ecopoint antarctica was the only elimination map, the enemy had us cornered and i walled my team to their death and made a clean getaway, for a actual reason? i just like playing mei.

For symmetra i just wanted to main a turret and she was the most fun option for me out of torbjorn, symmetra and bastion.

I used to play lot of bastion early on but i just kinda stopped playing him.

I love the idea of being a paramedic as a hero with big heals. Ultimately that left me with just Ana or Mercy to choose from. Eventually I realized that Ana was the hero that I wanted to master most.

Since her big nerf and until recently I always felt that the game was strongly rigged against Ana. Now about all that’s left to complete her is to give her a more practical escape mechanism than the sleep dart. For reasons of balance her primary defense requires elite skill just to use and that leaves her more vulnerable than she ought to be.

Given just that as what’s left to do I have hope for her to finally be a fully fleshed out hero. I suppose then all the posts on the forums I made championing her cause will finally cease.

My main found me.

I hated him. I hated being killed by him. I wanted him deleted because, well, I hated him.

Then I played him. So, here I am today, a main of my main. It started out with burning hatred.
