How would you implement an LGBT character?

Well, we do see Ingrid and Torb together in Reflections. They aren’t explicitly kissing, but it’s clear that they are together given he’s stroking her cheek and she is sitting on his lap while being the same age as him. That’s fairly indicative of romance.
And no one cares because two reasons;

  1. Straight is the most common sexuality. This is a fact. So no one gets offended about confirmation of a statistic likelihood.
  2. Torb is hardly popular in the OW lore community, so one one cares about what happens with him in lore. I’m sure there are people who do, but compared to McCree, 76/Jack, Ana, Angela, Rein, Zenyatta, Reaper/Gabe, Genji or Hanzo, there is no contest. Even newer characters like Moira, Ashe and his own daughter have more interest in their lore.

You have more of a point with Sam, but I remember a bunch of people hate that Ana wasn’t either a lesbian or had a fling with Rein. Different groups, obviously, and not on the same level as with Jack, but still a fair amount. But let’s face it, homophobic people are some loud douchebags who hate change. Most people I’ve seen either like the reveal or do not care one way or the other. I think it was a good reveal and very positive for the gay community, but yadda yadda, “Jack good bi rep” I’ve tortured enough people with that.
On your last point, that is likely due to bisexual people simply wanting to conform to society, so they choose opposite sex partners and are closeted. Only 40% of bisexual men are out of the closet, compared to 83% for gay men and 48% of bisexual women are out, compared to 88% for lesbians. There are numerous factors for this, but the end of is still that being closeted is not healthy for anyone.
