Which is why I totally ignore DPS players and heal the tanks LOL. I got sick of them screaming to nerf this healer and that healer….then get in a match and spam I need healing… Meh…find a health pack…the tank is is hurt and needs my help because god knows “hero” you have no idea how to help your tanks.
Blizz have nothing to do with your approach to the support role. I switched from dps to support role recently, and my main reason is because this role can do both damage and healing, and you can support your team both ways + utility from your kit. Unlike dps feel like the least impactfull role in this game, more team dependent than tank or support. Litteraly killing everything with bap or ana and healing meanwhile, feeling unpunishable esp in lower elo, considering how both these heroes are strong compared to any damage role hero.
I guees sigma is 3rd, Moth Mercy had been stronger imo, release brig had been fixed, she‘s still a viable char. But her whole playstyle had been changes tho
well mercy 2.0 was just a rework, not a release hero so sigma would be 2nd i would think but anything counts
The problem comes from making a casual support. What I mean is, a support that a complete novice can pick up and get easy value out of, ruins the tryhard experience. Once someone with above average skill picks up a powerful kit, made for mediocre players, it becomes a slaughter. I say this as a former zen/brig main, she needed cc and damage nerfs, but I hate everything else they did to her. Armor pack nerf, not remove. Shield bash damage nerf, not down from 50 to 5 damage (don’t remember). Tank health was fine, now she’s tissue paper. Just nerf her aoe numbers or range, not both.
It would never fly. DPS players are who the game is made for and they require supports to be nonthreatening. So they’re mostly relegated to healing. Look at the threads here, anything supports do that isn’t facilitating other players via healing is complained about constantly. Everything they do is on the verge of being disallowed.
oh my god that’s so hilariously broken i love it
Tank is the least picked by far, I don’t know where you are getting your numbers from.
Funnily enough I find that it is way more popular to play Bap/Ana/Moira (aka ‘healbots’) than it is to play Lucio or Zen, who focus more on utility.
Because HPS has gotten out of control. At launch the highest HPS outside of Trans was Mercy’s 50HPS beam. That was considered strong healing. Now we have heroes that do more than that for AoE healing. Utility used to be good, but why would you want to move faster when you can just simply live forever with 100+ HPS being pumped into you at all times?
sadly I don’t think the devs learned their lesson from her which was: just nerf tracer
They should just rename the support role to “healer”. Even when you don’t pick any, the warning text says “No healers”.
Eh, Paladins Supports are still pretty damn heal heavy. You can build them for less healing and more utility/damage, but that takes double Support to really be viable. LoL is too different to really be a proper comparison.
Also, while new Support kits have been a bit uninspired, I’d also say people over-exaggerate the heal bot status of Overwatch supports. More Lucio/Zen types with lower healing and more interesting forms of buffs/debuffs would certainly be welcome, but all the Supports still spend a decent bit of time doing non-healing things. And besides that, plenty of people prefer the “main healer” playstyle.
Now, in theory, 5v5 could be a huge boon for the Support role. One less big health pool means a lot more time for doing other things and less need for both Supports to have higher healing, and with how much the removal of a Tank will lower sustain peaks, there’s room for Supports to get a bit more themselves should Blizzard be willing.
People say this, but mass rez is invalidates this entire line of thinking.
Resurrect is burst healing in the form of however much health your allies have cumulatively. When you multiply that by the entire team it is really untenable and beats out anything else you can bring to the table. Your team goes from 200-1600hp in like 1.2s. The game hasn’t seen anything like it since. When people bemoan the “healing creep” boogieman they either conveniently forget this or wilfully push it out of their mind in their quest to make supports as unpleasant to play as they’ve made tanks.
Please no. I like overwatch because supports are actual healers. I like healing. If I wanted to play as a pseudo DPS I’d play literally any other game.
