Unironically, that would work.
The logical problem with the tank role is that having 1 slot makes that player a single point of failure. So any role size except 1 would solve that problem.
IMO, Blizz should just do the following:
- scale back all tank offense and defense to dps role levels
- scale up all support offense, and heavily scale back their healing
- make the game open queue, but keep role definitions just for their passives
PROFIT.

The only way is to make Overwatch classic. Make it p2p so we have less smurfs and hackers.

if we had story missions , we could obviously have advanced the lore and offed him doing some big sacrifice

Delete the game and revert back to the days OW was fun, this is no doubt the worst sequel I ever played in 33 years in gaming.

THey said remove the role, not remove the heroes under that category
Tank was better when it was just slightly bigger dps with defensive cooldowns. The passives ruined the experience for every role

I think if Widow was reworked into a tank the game would be saved. Just me though
