And during that time, nobody on my entire team is going to need any healing? While I’m allegedly ramping up my damage boost on a guy who just does “trash damage” the enemy team is just gonna, what, stand there and take it?
Or am I supposed to just watch my time die while I waste my time boosting garbage damage on the off chance that someone will happen to use a high-damaged ability the moment my damage boost reaches full rampup? Of course they’re probably not going to be going all-in at that time because I haven’t been healing them and now they don’t have enough HP to push on.
The only time I’m gonna sit there and hold damage boost for long periods of time without healing is if I’m hard pocketing a ranged DPS during poke phase, where they tend to deal more damage than they take. In those cases, I can damage boost until they get the kill and then heal them. That’s the only situation where your nerf doesn’t completely gut damage boost so it’s going to end up being the only way Mercy is played.
Otherwise, Mercy switches between healing and damage boosts constantly. That’s a core part of her triage healing playstyle. Swapping between tasks is something we should be encouraging, not destroying.
