How to counter doomfist as zen?

I enjoy playing zen alot in quick play and I am starting to use him in competitive but I find one hero to be near impossible to kill (unless I headshot him and my team helps while he is flying at me). I sit there and spam discord and healing into their team and this guy comes in from outta nowhere and either combos with slam and uppercut or punches me. I don’t wanna say he is op, but he is very annoying. Any tips? Thanks.

Zen hard counters doom and soldier. You need help.
EDIT: I meant doom hard counters Zen and Soldier.

First tip, find out where. Doomfist is a fairly assassin type character. If you figure out where he is coming from, you deal with half the trouble.

Second tip, call out to your team more frequently. Doomfist is a 250hp dps. You’re a 200 hp support. You’re not supposed to hard counter Doomfist, so don’t try to do everything on your own.

Other than that, I recommend keeping a discord orb on Doomfist if you want to keep track of him through walls. It also helps to burst him down quickly. Learn to use your Rightclick more–I find that an excellent tool when a Doomfist flies in. His trajectory is fairly predictable so you can often land an easy volley

I usually try to headshot him when he jumps me so I’ll try right clicks more, thanks for the help!

You discord him and attempt to shoot him like you have been doing.
Zen has no mobility, Doomfist is a hard counter to Zen.
your best bet is to have your team help you, you’ll lose in a 1v1 100% of the time unless you’re an aiming god and even then he’ll probably still kill you before you kill him.

Well, you don’t.

You can if he whiffs a slam, but otherwise you don’t. However, if you have a Brigitte or an Ana (or both), your Brigitte can pull Doomfist off of you and deal massive damage to him- you HAVE to call him out to her, though. Alternatively, Ana can just sleepdart him, because he moves in a predictable arc when using uppercut.

The thing with LMB and RMB is that LMB does more sustained damage while RMB is more bursty. Even if you score two perfect headshots with Zen’s LMB, you only deal up to the damage of 4 orbs, which is still 1 less than a volley (ignoring headshots on the latter).

I think the general idea would be to get a charged shot ready when you feel that he will dive you, then hit him with it. Once he is committed and you don’t have time to charge up another shot, you can out-dps him with well-placed LMB headshots.

That fight can be summarized as kill or be killed. If you don’t kill him when you see him, you’re dead.

Zen gets destroyed by Doom but him being alive soft counters Doomfist, when you have discord on Doom it’s really annoying, his hitbox is large so easy to hit.

Let’s say you destroy Doom long range but gets destroyed close range.

Counter Doomfist as Zen, by switching to Brigitte.

Switch to brigitte. I say this as someone who plays ana/ zen a lot. Best advice I can give you is to keep discord on him and scream in chat for your team to always focus doomfist first. If you’re ana it’s even worse.

Zen is immobile. All you really can do is discord him, fire at him, and hope to kill him before he kills you. Also, communication will increase your odds. Be on the lookout for him and let your team know where he is at. If you find that you can’t land your shots consistently enough to survive then maybe consider switching to Lucio.

I usually don’t have any issues with Doom as Zen. Unless he’s ulting which is very difficult to avoid as you slowly float away from the red circle.

Zen is the most vulnerable support to Doomfist, followed by Ana. Pretty much every other support has ways of avoiding Doomfist other than these two!

No, Doomfist counters Zen. He’s immobile with a big hitbox so it’s easy to combo him, and the only way for him to escape Meteor Strike alive (by himself) is to use his ult to save himself. The only aspect of Zen that could be said to counter DF is Discord, but then again that could be said for every hero.

@ OP, try positioning closer to your team so he can’t get to you as easily without risking more in return. If your team is competent they should be able to peel him off of you & protect you in turn. To escape his ult without using yours, play around barriers since Meteor Strike’s damage is blocked by them if you stand on the other side of the center point (or just ask for Zarya bubbles). If he’s still giving you grief then it’s probably time to swap. Lucio and Brig do better since the former is better able to escape DF’s abilities thanks to his mobility while the latter is tankier and makes CQC much mode dangerous for DF.

I have an easier time dealing with doomfist as zen than ana. Simply because I have good aim and can trade ults to keep myself alive. Sleep dart has too long of a windup animation to do anything against doomfist.

If he’s slamming, charge right click and wait for him to hit the ground. There’s a pause as he hits where you can unleash a volley into his face for insta kill. Corner hug, keep shooting. You just wanna avoid getting uppercutted, cos once he gets that you’re prolly gonna die.

I meant to say Doom counters Zen and Soldier. My bad.

All is good, although I didn’t think he countered Soldier. Mind elaborating?

Soldier can’t use sprint or biotic field while being uppercut, and he doesn’t really have the burst damage to kill Doomfist fast enough. (It can be a different story depending on who shoots first, and if the Soldier hits his helix rocket!) :+1:

Use transcendence to keep yourself alive once doomfist commits with seismic slam and goes for the uppercut. And pray your team kills him then and then farm another ult- no wait, genji just ulted you and your team died because you did not have trancendence. And deep in your heart you know you cannot swap away from Zen because enemy team has Genji.

Uh…
