How many people actually want to read the short stories?

Noticed something I guess I sort of expected.

But out of the 5k people that visited the Mauga topic, only 500 people actually used the twitter link. (Likely less actually read the whole story.)

That’s surprising low for an event right?

Pretty sure there is a surprising good number of people, who don’t know who Mauga is?

(Likely only a handful of people who know what happened at the end to Mauga.)

… That’s just a forum representation though…

Honestly i usually jump on these kind of things but two things are holding back.

  1. I hate baptiste, easily my #1 most hated hero in all aspects from personality, lore, to gameplay
  2. WERE FINALLY GETTING A TALON TANK!!! I dont want to spoil the surprise more then the forums already done.

I went to read the comic. Found out it was a badly written book with no art. Didn’t get very far. Who is mauga anyway?

People have learmed that the most lore they are going to get from a character is a little blurb or few page comic, then nothing, ever. So now people are like “why even bother?”. I dont know or care about what maugas vague 2 dimensional backstory is

There’s literally art in it, so i don’t think you made it far enough to see if it was “badly written”

It’s not written by George RR martin I can tell you that. It’s so bad it reminds me of the my immortal youtube series from internet historian.

In my opinion, Alyssa Wong did a great job with this story. Her writing for Mauga and Sombra especially fit their characters very well. The art that was spruced in here and there was a nice touch too. I don’t really know why the comics were any better- Searching is probably my favorite and the art on it is abjectly horrible on some panels.

I think you’re being very overdramatic. It’s perfectly acceptable writing that’s clearly meant for a wide audience.

You mean you don’t like square butt 76?

ok but how can your most hated hero be baptiste when ashe exists

A comic takes far less time, and I plan to read it probably this weekend, but lets be honest, most people these days want video or comics for ingesting pop culture.

cries in baptiste main

I think most are reading it this weekend but usually goes (gonna read it) but then forgets…

Anyway just saying likely more then half people playing today, just think this event is just for about a Skin.

I don’t know how Vincent dealt with that… props to him for working with such complex geometry for that long

What are you even saying I love Ashe

Her viper feels so good to use and her kit is wicked fun. Too bad my precision aim sucks or i’d use her more then soldier. Baptiste gun feels and sounds like the military made a contract with NERF toys to make a military weapon.

Also Bob :sparkling_heart::heartpulse::sparkling_heart:

I never was and neither am interested in OW story. I don’t give a s… on the events nor the comivs nor the lore or anything like that.

I just want to play it. When i don’t play it, i do something else but not wasting my time with those stuff.

That and the writing is better than any of the other long-form Overwatch stories we’ve had so far. Alyssa is a much better writer than Michael Chu - at least for this type of work.

I’m also going to throw in that Blizzard for some reason thought people would really be “into” Baptiste as a character, but even though he has become my support main for the most part, he’s boring af as a character, he make S:76 seem like a tragic character in comparison. No amount of poor-kid-falls-in-with-wrong-crowd-and-overcomes-it paralleling street gang nonsense is that enticing, its not 1996 anymore, and Finn, errrrr, Baptiste’s story is just not that interesting. Mauga so far is the only element to emerge which is compelling. If Mauga becomes Hero 31 he will instantly eclipse Baptiste.
