i like stadium and i think its got loads of potential
but when sojourns in i think ill drop it, aint no way im playing against a soj with 100% weapon power
I never asked for it. I think it also has more features in the clunky replays (imagine having 7 replay codes for one match) than the regular games, which is seriously annoying.
I inched back up in Elite 2 today, almost back to Elite 1. Maybe over the weekend I can attempt to reach Pro as a Tank.
I haven’t played Stadium as much this past week though, mostly due to needing to focus on Challenges to gain XP and try to hit lv. 200 by the end of the season. 11 days left now, I think.
The best part is it gives golden gun points, that’s literally it. As a tank main I hate playing tank there, cause it’s even worse than regular 5v5. You pick D.Va and enemy has Zarya, Mei, Moira and it’s just about good night, everybody. Yeah, sure you got like one or two things that can sorta fight it, but it’s nowhere near switching.
I end up supporting on Moira, cause she’s got more of that crazy healing output and good 9/10 rounds I don’t even die once. Doesn’t help much when the DPS (and sometimes tanks) just run off in different directions and die. You’ll also get Rein doing some kind of shield build who ends up charging in all the time.
With all that, I kinda hate what they did with matchmaking. They must’ve done something cause the support queue time went from 5+ minutes to like 2-minutes and now it feels like I have NPCs on my team. Before games were much closer and 5-7 rounds on average and now it’s a rarity if it doesn’t end in a 3-0 stomp for either side.
Maybe if there was some structure of matchmaking, I could enjoy the mode. Or maybe a casual mode for completing that mvp challenge. When I play that mode solo, it is just watch your Reinhardt charge into 5 people and instantly die simulator.
When I play with at least three people to ensure I have a balanced match, the mode is alright. It gets worse when the game has lasted too long and now my 90% ability power torpedoes simply tickle the enemy’s bloated healthpool. When everyone has loads of health, it just stops being fun because the ttk is just way too high… Unless you’re a dps, in which case you’re dealing insane damage. There isn’t counter swapping, but what does it matter when you load into your counters and now have to deal with it for the next 30 minutes? The swapping part has never been as big an issue as the fact that there are hard counters period.
I still rather just play the base game. All the ability combinations and whatnot overwhelm me. I can’t be bothered to look through the builds of 9 other people and try to come up with a counter strategy. My adhd literally does not allow me to focus well enough to do that in only a minute.
Wait till attack speed junk rat drops, all maps are close quarters and heavily favours spam , any decent rat player will take over the lobby , junk , pharah , sym turrets
I really enjoy it to the point where it’s pretty much all I play with overwatch now.
As others have said, it’s not without issues however.
It desperately needs new maps and I fear 2 new ones next season won’t be enough to keep it fresh and varied.
I also really worry that some heroes just won’t work in this mode and they shouldn’t feel bad about leaving them out (Freja has already proven this).
And leavers… This mode has a serious leaver problem and when you’ve invested so much time to the match and your build it feels more awful than ever to have someone throw a tantrum and leave and it happens a lot in my experience.
I’m not quite there, but I quit it years ago. Despite people telling me “go to comp, you tryhard” it’s the same raging and throwing there. Tried to fire it up during last drives and didn’t change much. And now with bans I feel even less like playing it. Last thing I need is some Genji one-trick calling me toxic for wanting to ban his main or so.
Ironically, while stadium sounds longer with all these “gear up” phases, it feels like it goes by much smoother and I don’t even know how much longer bans make a comp game now.
