It surprises me how LOST most of y’all are with the recent experimental patch.
No, the developer team isn’t testing anything with this.
No, the content creators in charge of this experimental patch were not looking for balance changes.
NO, the changes aren’t even gonna be considered to go live, it’s just for a tournament partnered by the same people of the Echo tournament from 2020.
And NO, the balance team didn’t do any of these changes, for the love of god stop hating on them when it’s literally not their fault.
people are hating on the fact that resources being put into silly stuff like this, disregarding the fact that these over-the-top experimental cards are one of the few content types the dev team is able to give us.
They call the game stale and boring, but then become angry when they introduce new stuff like this that’s purely for fun.
We’ve had changes from non-serious patches go Live before, OP. Which is a policy that makes sense. If an idea is well recieved, it’d be dumb to not adapt it for the actual game if possible.
Do we actually know this for a fact? Has anyone involved in the creation of this thing confirmed that this is 100% streamer requests, from balance changes to Orisa’s Santa hat?
Nothing can beat the April fools patch becasue its all changes and fun whacky buffs no nerfs like they did to other heroes specially healers and tanks.
To be honest, they might have used changes to see how it work in game even if its not their idea, or some stuff could be in future used for talent’s and stuff. Anything can one day be used, and being tested in live game do give it some more chance for it.
It DID change that for a lot of people though. Everyone I ask in game loves the experimental and wants it to stay. Literally every single match I’m in everyone says they love it and want it to stay. The forums are a TINY and very whiny minority.
Maybe you should branch out more and stop being so salty.
Oh and my queue times are way faster for the experimental than any other mode rn too. In case you were gonna try to tell me barely anyone is playing it lol.
its blizzards. they are just stalling till winter wonderland comes out and people buy lootboxes (i seriously dont know who does, but with how every event is FREE, theres obviously people that do. whether they admit to it or not.) the fact they just sit there and go “hm yes i like the idea of overly biased twitch streamers the chance to either ruin or get a massive break in their career” like gd blizz. grow up.
Have you considered those that don’t like it have already stopped playing it? I tried it for a few matches but there’s just not much there for support unless I want to Lucio and beat drop on people’s heads; which is fun for a bit but it’s never going live so what’s the point?
Why is my dislike of something any more or less valid than your liking it? Can I arbitrarily pick on stuff you don’t like because I have a different opinion?
Queue times even in QP have been increasing over the past month, the experimental is both new AND it buffed tanks which are the reason for long queue times in the first place.
This game has been starved for any meaningful content and the first content we get is a big waste of time.
Experimental should be used to test actual balance, they could easily establish a mode in Arcade for just this thing. Have a revolving “content creator” mode which allows you to jump into the full game with wacky wild changes that revolve in/out regularly as more content creators make contributions.
Personally I’d like to see some actual balance changes that might be applied to the game.
That is until the novelty wears off and they will be singing another song if the patch was actually getting live.
Also the ppl who actually care about balance changes are the minority. The average joe doesn’t even care about balance and those who does keep coming here to ask if the patch is a joke or something.
I mean, Rein has half the OW2 changes applied and Mercy seems to be in that vein too. They’re having fun with it, but they could also get some data from it and a sense of what people like. Not saying that’s the intention, but it’s a potential side bit.
A few of the changes like Brig and Mercy feel like legitimate suggestions to try and fix real problems people have had for years now. But they just sorta fall short halfway and just feel bad compared to all the other “obviously OP for the lulz” heroes.
Like, I get it, the patch was for the memes. But then the creators should’ve just doubled down on the memes across the board. Wanna make Mercy an actual battle angel? Make Valk double pistol damage but she can’t use her staff, or something like that. Meme it up, don’t be afraid to go all in, but do it for everyone.
