How basically every OWL game goes

So why do you watch it?

That’s what OWL will always be mirror matches of the most powerful comp available. The day that isn’t true is either when OWL has failed or when all the heroes are balanced.

That’s basically the core issue with Overwatch. Unlike MOBAs, not only you can swap whenever you want, you can also mirror enemy team’s composition, and if there is a meta comp, it will be mirrored, even if you’ve got counters to it. The game in pro scene will always be like that - either run the most powerful comp or get countered and swap to it. Remember the last time teams actually played an entire match with different compositions? Me neither.

GOATS to infinity - no creativity from so called ā€œPros.ā€ They are not even entertaining pros personality wise, just a couple hundred of south-Korean kids who are shy and boring. I’d rather watch golf pros in a golf tournament and I hate golf.

Season 1 was like Dive, more dive, dive to infinity.

And they expect the immediate staleness to be fun for the next 6 months of viewing? Lel.

I can imagine the training the teams have to do in their off time.

Manager: For your training this afternoon and the rest of the tournament… DO MOAR GOATS!

there use to be more variance in the composition. now its just super stale and the equivalent of placing shaped objects inside their appropriate shape slot in a toddlers toy. eventually the majority of the playerbase will realize they are babyfoot noobs with zero experience and their majority pandering has ruined the game and then start crying for shooters to be back. I remember when i was part of the 1 percent complaining about this stuff and would get banned regularly. now is feels more like a 50/50. still plenty of noobs to educate about online gaming and where the skill and excitement lies… im so sorry blizzard cant figure out the ratios of characters and the way its currently setup implies that its a mainly dps dominated game, but is definitely left to the 5 tanks and 5 healers instead of 20+ dps. Also ive been stating from teh start that the tanks and healers are basically bot characters for people who cant aim and im super sorry that is true as well. The healers were definitely placed as female clickbait at s1. like everything is so obvious and u all act like blizzard is sneaky

And still Sombra as the only dps there was much more cancerous for me to watch. It actually hurted to see how much dvas and Reins suffered from it x)

so you complain that teams adapt to the current situation and that more than one comp is meta?

to me it sounds like you describe overwatch as it was meant to be played

It’s almost like no one is forcing you to watch it

Hey but it’s all about counters !

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, they need to enforce a pick round (pre match, with teams picking by turns the heroes they are going to play), with no swapping during match. And then, in the next match they can’t pick the same heroes as the previous match.

People are going to say, ā€œwe’ll if you can’t swap, then there may be no chance for the losing team to turn around the matchā€. Well, tough luck, should have made a better choice during pick phase. :man_shrugging:t2:

Yes i agree. Blizzs short sighted vision for a game where ā€œplayers will counterswap on the flyā€ is dreadfully dumb. That’s why I want a one player, one swap limit.

That wouldn’t work, because you could force the one switch with a cheesy build, then when they lock into what they have to stick to, you swap to counter that. The meta would revolve around which team forces the other to swap first.

It would also give teams MORE reason to stick to meta and not take any chances so they could save their swap in case of emergency.

Yeah I know but it would still be better. The game needs restrictions. I’d prefer a 222 role lock as forced mirroring roles would be way more competitive than ā€œpick what you wantā€.

Say it again after me.

ā€œThanks Brigitte for killing this gameā€

Basically not much different than the last prevalent meta, ie Dive. And it will be like this again with the next meta. Sprinters all sprint the same way, one of them doesn’t do little zigzags or whatever because, even if it looks flashier, he’s gonna lose to all the people running straight for the goal.

I don’t like that part, but in essence you are right. This would force them to do proper balancing instead of some shaky rock paper scissor gengu jenga tower …

ngl this is the only reason I’m liking your post
