It will only erase synergies
But new problems will happen - uncontested snipers, low TTK, spam damage ect

What does that even mean? I thought we were talking about tanks not Junkrat.
The synergies require a significant amount of skill. If they tank role didn’t require skill it would be a lot more popular, yet somehow its the least played role.
As for 5v5, I’m all for it as long as they do a good job with tank balance, but your reasonings for supporting it are quite delusional.
Yep, hence making them easier to balance.
We’ll see
While I do agree with your point about nerfing when synergy is issue, this is no way a issue limited to tanks. Cross class synergy is the main reason meta exist. For ex, if your tank choose rein, you better be playing lucio or if you dps choose Ash, you better be playing residentsleeper mercy, to maximize win chance.
You can’t have strong hitscan in plain shooters, or it’ll just result in CS:GO. So it fits.
Just make it 3v3 lol
You clearly are seeing this only from a non-tank perspective. You also left out the dumbing down of the game this move creates. The tank category already promotes skill, the new style of Brawler actually reduces it down. I will send you invites to tank for me in OW 2, sound good?
Many consider double sniper comps “unfun” for instance, do you?
Are considering this change to 5v5 will make the tank role more appealing or gratifying to play or are you considering this more from a singular roles perspective?
Will 1 tank be more fun to play than now or worse. Tanks may be easier to balance but will the tanking experience be terrible?
Also…
Rein: 1200 HP shield
Two firestrikes (less damage per I believe)
More flexible Charge
Winston: A longer range attack
Zarya: 2 charges on her Bubbles (I didn’t catch HP or amount of charge gained)
Roadhog: Not sure anything chaged
Hammond: Got overhealing instead of shield
I don’t know about Orisa and Sigma
Yes Fun for everyone else but the tank, solo tanking sucks every tiny bit of fun out of the game, turns the roll into a chore and with OW2 buff to support damage and nerf to barriers playing Rien will just means trying to push through the choke points will just get you melted every time, turning the game into a spawn sim for tank players, so ya 1 ta k is great fun for every role but tank
Really depends if the majority of Tank players find it fun to be a “Heavy” or a “Punching Bag”
Well reducing the ttk would be unfortunate from my point of view. One of my favorite things about this game is the often long team fights. With a shorter ttk, there will be a lot less playing and a lot more running back from spawn. Don’t know about anyone else, but for me the fights are more fun than respawn and jog simulator.
Should we remove a support slot so we no longer get the broken Moira/Lucio or Mercy/Ana or Brig/Zen either?
This problem also applies to 5v5, instead of an “Unfun” Tank comp there will be a single tank that will be overall better than everyone else. This will force people to use him and thus create comps around him, the exact same thing we have RN with the exception that there is less counter play. In fact, tank metas may be more oppressive in 5v5 than 6v6
If im not mistaken, they already mentioned how making the TTK shorter was one of their objectives. If they take away 1 tank and reduce damage to compensate then we will be in the exact same place, they are obviously going to take away 1 tank, reduce their defensive capabilities and then either maintain or increase the current DPS. Wsdnt Ana doing like 110 damage per shot? 5v5 Will heavily favor heavy outputs of damage.
Which doesn’t automatically equal tanks “suffering” from insane damage outputs.
With pleasure. I happen to be a Sig main who enjoys playing alone rather than hoping that my other tank will come and save me from the consequences of my bad plays. I can see why many tank players are apprehensive when it comes to this change. They have been rewarded for playing badly for far too long, being dependent on their off tank to provide them with a get out of jail free card when they overextend or make a bad play. Now they’ll have to play better as an individual, and I see that as being more fun than hoping to get carried. At the end of the day, it’s going to be the lower skilled tank players like Rein, Zarya, Orisa and Winston mains who will suffer the most. Ball, Hog, Sig, and Dva are ideal examples of independent, skill based tanks, and the former should be reworked to fit in.
How does it not? Tanks have bigger hitboxes than Supports and DPS so its already easier to hit them and now their defensive capabilities will be reduced. Shields and tanks already melt on live, if you reduce their defensive abilities and either maintain or increase damage, it will be an actual respawn simulator.
The same applies for DPS and Supports, they will be easier to kill once their only tank is gone.
That’s not what the devs indicated. Only those with high defense capabilities currently will have them reduced, others will have them increased.
Point is the game is not currently balanced for 5v5. Trying to view 5v5 through the current game’s balance does not paint a realistic picture.
I’ll give an extreme example. Let’s imagine that the devs reduce tank TTK by half, but then implement a change that they respawn instantly right on the point. In that scenario, tanks wouldn’t be “suffering” by the low TTK.
Even putting aside “tank synergies”, that still doesn’t put tanks in a better position than they’re in now. Even if they’re made more brawly and less defensive, they still have to deal with actually getting close enough to brawl without being subjected to massive amounts of outgoing damage and the inordinate amount of CC.
Sure, they haven’t released all their hero changes but that doesn’t really bode well for the tank players.
I find it adorable people think blizzard is going to magically vastly improve their ability to balance.
5v5 is going to be the same dumpster fire 6v6 is, except people wont want to solo tank, so good luck with that.
