Horrible start for OW2

This has to be one of the worst launches I have seen in 30+ years of gaming.

This would be considered a massive success for Blizz standards.

One of the worst? Or THE worst?

It’s average for Blizzard…

If you can recall 30 years worth of semi relatable occurrences to make that statement. Why are we shocked?

people completely forgot how horrible Diablo 3 launch

Minor hiccup so far.

Anthem was my lesson. Never trust any developer ever again. Ever.

They even had queues at events in OW 1. Didn’t that teach them anything? Quality Blizzard.

I’ve seen a lot of blizz launches and other game launches and honestly? Yeah. This is a really bad launch. The servers are totally to be expected, but the thing that puts this launch above every other terrible launches I’ve seen is the flood of players realizing today that if they want to play a videogame they have to change their cell phone carrier.

At least the launch of Diablo 3 was just “nobody can play the game for a day or two because the authentication servers are overloaded” and not “YOU HAVE TO CHANGE YOUR CELLPHONE NUMBER AND SIGN A MULTIPLE YEAR PHONE CONTRACT IN ORDER TO PLAY OUR FIRST PERSON SHOOTER VIDEOGAME”

I’ve managed to get in twice within a few hours and found it pretty smooth once inside. Honestly, most game launches I’ve experienced are significantly worse.

Its just outright terrible. While Overwatch Twitter is commenting on the hype of this game to others, they lack to update us on their progress. Waiting for hours is not an experience to have.

I would agree that OW2 is the worst launch Blizzard has ever done if you include the fact that it made OW1 players lose access permanently because of their phone plans. That wasn’t an accident though, it was fully intentional. The technical issues seem average.

You guys need to go easy on blizz, they’re just a small indie company after all.

wow, that’s pretty rapid access

Definitely not good optics for your big relaunch of OW. Especially with your company poorly viewed by the general public due to legal issues.

They definitely needed a smoothish launch today to start rebuilding goodwill. This situation simply won’t help.

If you actually looked on social media for 5 minutes, you’d realize they’ve identified it as DDos; this isn’t Blizzard’s fault, for once

if they say so, must be true

Can tell OP has never played WoW, or any other Blizz game for that matter. They’ve botched MOST of their releases.

IMO this is one of their best launches since the game is actually playable to some degree.
