Honestly, I'm angry about the Genji buffs

Every video games should be seen not just like videogame, but also a profitable product, so company that made the game will try to earn money and popularity.
Symmetra and Genji are different heroes. Genji is robo-ninja, flashy hero, handsome, edgy-looking character that will get people attracted to playing him.
On the other hand, Symmetra is not as flashy and edgy as Genji. Im not saying she is bad in comparison with Genji, but her c oncept is different.
I want to say that, companies like Blizzard and Riot (specialy Riot) try to make money by modifing game in way some players would like it.
Genji was not bad or weak hero, he was hero that needed skill and practice (tons of practice) to be good at. Because of the look and “wibe” Genji has, he must be satisfying to play even if that means breaking game for every other hero in the game.
Buffing Genji to point of being BROKEN is one of Blizzards attemps to fix Overwatch and maybe get some players that they had back to game.
I hope he will get nerfed (a lot) in next patches so Overwatch become less of a borring game that is now.

I just wish that they had the spine to admit it instead of claiming to aim for actual balance and fairness

Ya there little claims of trying to balance the game are getting tiring. Like with the recent Brig nerfs saying how she was to out of line with the other supports but totally ignoring Ana. Its clear they have a list of characters that are fine being the best, but if anyone else tries to compete with them then they need to be nerfed hard and fast.

Get used to it. Blizzard doesn’t care at all anymore about this game or its players.

Take my like, gave me a good laugh.

I mean yes there is bias but…

Like they’ve already said as much. Idk what more they could do

I was about to link your own topic to you lmao

Man, that really stinks that you and your teams have to suffer through that. I mean, it’s not like your team doesn’t also have a Genji right? I mean, because how fair is that for both teams to have access to the same supposedly OP hero? So, clearly, you and your team are always at a disadvantage because the enemy has a ninja and your team… chooses not to…? Yeah, I would be upset too if I had a victim’s mentality. I mean, when someone brings a ninja to a knife fight and your team decides to keep their own OP ninja holstered, poor you, right? Maybe Genji is fine and players ought to just buck up and stop scapegoating their own lack. :man_shrugging:t2:

he was literally the bottom 5 in winrate overall, and bottom 10 in usage before the buffs.
you would get flamed and reported for picking genji.
just stop.

I was wondering if there were any others I missed.

Which is precisely why they gave reasons why they’re mad right?

Yes because blizzard isnt listening. They are continuing to push out changes without listening to feedback first.

so were you not angry during the other threads youve written over the last 5 days???

Oh they’re listening to feedback, just not here. They’re listening to the people who play pro and the OWL players in the discord, which amounts to the top percent of the top percent of all the people who play, and they want to keep them happy and if their precious fave isn’t powerful enough then they have lobbying power to make that change.

The only time I have seen this number of changes to a single hero in a single direction before was when they buried Mercy way back when - rather than trialling each single buff to see what works, they plugged all of them at once and called it good. In Mercy’s case that made her basically useless for anything other than pocketing, and here it’s made Genji a must pick and if they had any integrity or consistency, yes, they’d undo everything and apologise.

That’s not going to happen, obviously. Because frankly, OWL isn’t sport and it’s barely a game because they keep changing the rules to suit the players. The FA does not make the goalposts wider or narrower based on how many goals Mo Salah scores, and Blizzard shouldn’t be trying to make heroes meta or not based on the top slice’s whims. And if they actually functioned right and things were balanced, the meta would be fluid on its own as tactics to counter the current meta become widespread so take its place, then those get countered and so on.

But. No. The devs, or people with influence, have their faves and they will get the special treatment because screw us.

So… Pretty average.

Bottom 10 pickrate out of 17 dps heroes, the horror! He should be top 3 minimum! How dare he have a slightly above average pickrate.

And you should know better than to think winrate is a useful metric without context and filtering.

So me saying I’m angry now means I couldn’t have been before…?

considering he is widely known as one of the more popular DPS heroes, and symmetra is not, yes. Thats really low.

I’m honestly just angry about A Genji buff, but I feel the rest were kinda needed for Genji.

I just think the only part of broken from it all was reducing the spread. That was overextending and just made the character easier to pick up for people learning to play him, and way better for people who have been playing him.

Other examples of this:

  • Hanzo when he had the projectile speed increased
  • McCree when he had fan the hammer damage boosted

I could probably think of more, but I’m also out of a work break.
