I’m not. I expressed my opinion and he wants me to label my orientation while presuming I’m straight. I just want him to respect my opinion like he would any other human.

I see the f slur dropped almost daily in game, not often directed at me but I feel your pain op. I think it’s a problem with a lot of gaming communities, but un-modderated text chats in general are just a hub for awful people.

Ppl can be like that. I told a guy in my work (whos also play ow) thet S76 is gey and im ok with that. So he said he uninstall game, call me antichristian and try to excommunication me. Boi hes toxic af.
So in game you can only mute n’ report, in rl… if it’s in your work place raport to menager etc.

I understand the point of this thread, but you’re not off to a good start by assuming every straight person reading this will disagree with the post, and pretty much saying if you’re not LGBT I don’t want to hear your opinion.
A straight but feminine guy can experience homophobic comments while not actually being homosexual, or they can simply experience homophobic comments directed at others.

yes, especially because i main mercy and in those peoples head mercy players are girls or gays, also they think mercy is a offense? Like I was doing my placements and they keep bringing it up… we need to stay strong sis

Ones sexuality has nothing to do with ones accent. What’s a lesbian accent? Bisexual accent? Asexual accent? All humans talk differently. It doesn’t define our sexuality.

Sorry, it’s not limited to LGBTQ+ crowd, we all get “hate”. My point is people will seize on anything obvious to harp on, so if you are openly LGBTQ+ they will seize on that. It’s not really about being part of that.

I had a problem with this too as it deals with ‘stereotypes.’ I’ve been asked if I’m ‘gay’ before because of the way I talk and to be fair, ‘gay accents’ are ‘put on’ not innate…

Make sure to report them. It does work.
Then remember that if they weren’t attacking your sexuality they would be attacking you you something else.
That’s not to justify homophobia but it’s true. They have chosen their scapegoat and attack whatever they see as a target. This typically takes the form of hero choice, accents, gender etc. In your case it’s sexuality.
It’s hard but try to not take it personally and liberally use the mute feature before things escalate.

As a bisexual, I often get hated by straights AND gays. Like I’m not straight enough to be liked by straights, I’m not gay enough to be liked by gays. What do you want from me???

I am stright, but I see very often people using “gay” as an insult. It´s kinda cringe…same as using “autistic” (I am autistic).

Look while calling and thinking of me as a troll is easier than disagreeing with someone. Just calling someone a troll is insulting and as you said yourself don’t have to accept hate. So why is ok for you to be hateful? Double standard much.

I called him (on the OP so don’t go on about derailing) out on making a judgement based on orientation and he responded by making a presumption about my gender and orientation and used it as an insult.
Wanna know who else does this, homophobic people. So yea I have an issue with this. The fact he then goes on to ask my orientation agian shows how naive he is.
Either way, I don’t want to weaponize my orientation to prove a point, it’s degrading and dehumanizing. I don’t think I need to do that to correct a presumption.
Also, feel free to support him but if you want to take issue that I feel I shouldn’t need to label my gender/orientation to talk people that isn’t a very open-minded way of thinking or I guess rather than you know respect a persons opinion, just label them a troll because accepting maybe your not really supporting the right thing is too difficult.
To add I’ll be clear. I think this is an important issue and is a problem that should be addressed in-game. If people are bulling and being homophobic they should be banned but it’s not a shield to discriminate against another group of people.
As for my arguing tone. Yes, I could have said, “Please discuss my point without your prejudice and presumptions” that isn’t who I am, he insulted me so I have no reason to be polite back.

I thought it was hilarious, but that was the only time in the game I heard a sexual or gender-specific remark in more than 4 years and 8000 hours of playtime.
Maybe homophobia is more of a US thing rooted in your language and culture,
I personally have never heard homophobic remarks on EU servers.
I’m not saying that EU servers are clean, not at all, but it’s hard to believe that this is a bigger problem.
