Hog is broken.... AGAIN *gasps*

Hog is broken right now because they lowkey didn’t want to nerf ana nade for some god forsaken reason and instead gave him a vape on 1sec cooldown…

Overwatch hard follows the philosophy of instead of dealing with issues they’ll either band-aid it or cut off the entire limb and then wonder a year down the line why the balancing keeps getting more and more impossible. Their is no consistency nor understanding about why something is strong or weak in this game just analyitical data being used about which characters are strong or weak…

Hog is the reason Ana can’t be nerfed

he should just be reverted entirely to the last version of him.

Instead of blaming Ana made for the 1000th time maybe just consider that they removed all the counter play from breather except for Anti-Nade and the reason he is like this is because Roadhog has been and will always be bad design unless they completely change him in a rework.

They did rework Hog. How many reworks do we need until they address the problem? If he needs another rework, why aren’t they doing it?

Just nerf hook cooldown moderately. +2-4 seconds. If you go heavy, buff his magazine. Trust me. Nobody wants OP hog but nobody wants trash hog either.

He has been the enemy tank in every single game of the 11 I’ve played today. I’m going mental.

Not the people who had him on their team in comp matches.

I am not saying ones better than the other, I’m saying both scenarios suck and we can easily avoid both with properly directed nerfs.

It’s pretty much just two hogs staring at each other menacingly while vaping. Honestly this feels similar to launch Mauga levels of broken.

I think most people would agree the hog rework was a complete failure at every point of change

Their goals
• make him more team oriented
• make him less about ‘1 shotting’
• make him more able to play around his counters

Firstly he is not team oriented at all still. He provides no value to a team as a teammate to the hog. He is still just a walking wall of fat with no actual team focused ability

Secondly his 1 shot burst potential still exists and actually now feels even worse to die to, especially for tank, because you now also get significantly slowed and crippled by his trap and still end up dying. So we traded an instant kill with no time to react, to instead being hooked in and then taking a chunk of dmg + slowed and still dying with no way to interact in anyway. So the actual interaction of playing into hog hasnt changed, you still get hooked and 99.9% of the time still die but it now feels worse because instead of it being instant death, its 1-2 seconds of slow before inevitable death

Thirdly, the changes made to address his ability to play around his counters just straight up removed the key weaknesses from the hero that gave nuance to playing against him. Allowing him to eat stuns and it not cancel his vape completely just dumbed the hero down insanely and make him so braindead to play. There is no risk to just running at someone because unless they have an ana you can just vape your way back to safety. When he could be sigma rocked or javelin’d out of vape, Hog players used to actually have to think about their positioning and windows of opportunity. Now he can just tank those abilities and play with no thought at all. In doing so it also actually made a hero like ana more necessary into him because by allowing him to tank stuns heroes like sigma became completely unplayable into hog.

All the rework has done is made the hero no less frustrating to play against, no more helpful to play with as a teammate, and removed a large chunk of viable heroes that can be played into him by removing key weaknesses of the hero. So nothing about the experience of playing with or against a hog has changed except now the pool of heroes that counter him is smaller so you are more limited to what you can play as an enemy.

To think sigma used to be a viable pick into him cus you could shield his hook, rock him out of vape and ult, eat his ult if necessary. Now if you play sig into hog your rock cant cancel anything, if you try to eat his ult you get hooked out of your suck and instantly killed. Your shield still gets melted. The tables completely flipped by the devs deciding to remove all fundamental weakness of hog

So they set clear goals for the rework and none of them have been met. He still isnt team oriented at all, he still has a 1 shot, sure he can play more into his counters but all thats done is limit what heroes can actually be played into him.

Complete failure of a rework

Dunno, but it would be pretty easy to do.

    1. Lower Hog’s health/resistance/healing by some large fraction.
    1. But then allow him to shrug off AntiHeal with a Cleanse on Breather.

YES! It’s so bad. The hog that learns to flank usually wins OR the hog with the better suzu cooldown. It’s so pathetic and makes for the most boring, terrible gameplay.

Mauga v Mauga, then a period of fun, then Orisa v. Orisa and now Hog v. Hog

It took then a while to acknowledge the first two were terrible; let’s see how many days it takes for them to realize Roadhog benefitted WAY too much from these changes.

It’s funny how people ignore WHY those three get picked

I mean it would be fun to play JQ or Reinhardt… If they didn’t get melted by hitscan before they can even get closer than 20 metres

It’s almost like giving Hog a 25% headshot resistance was a bad idea. Maybe they should have only given that to the armor tanks who got gimped vs most hitscan.

Mauga + Ana + Kiriko usually makes enemy Hogs switch or feed. :slight_smile:

I keep hearing damage is fine, ok, enjoy your damage sponge then. It goes both ways.

He’s in almost every game now. Only tactic I use on him is Zens discord, seems to bring him down if I have another teammate focusing on him. If he’s got a pocket though you absolutely NEED Ana I think
