Higher than normal Latency today

Noticed the latency in game today is at least 20ms higher than normal. I checked other games too like WOW and noticed it higher there too, nothing super high but enough for me to take notice and run a few MTR from Looking glass.

Checked all devices in the home and even rebooted router and cable equipment to no avail, still higher latency. I am not sure what the report says but what I can see is at hop 5 and 6 its flucatuating a lot, maping flapping but not where if its my ISP or blizzard. I’m guessing my ISP? if anyone can help I would be grateful.

If you’re wondering, I’m in Western NY on Spectrum.

Having the same issue. I just wrote a new post but then saw yours. The one I’m having issue with is 137.221.65.122, also Blizzard.

Hello!

Could we get a more detailed test? We normally use this program called winMTR which offers a much more detailed test. Instead of a few small bits of data it sends 1 packet per second in a steady stream. This works more similar to a game so it works great for this type of situation!

Instructions:

  1. Download the tool from this page
  2. Enter the game IP into the “host” field. The IP address for our games are listed on the winMTR instructions page
  3. Start the test and play the affected game for at least 15 minutes. Ensure the problem happens while the winMTR tool is running.
  4. After recording the problem data, click “export text” and save the winMTR file in an easy to find location.
  5. Once you have that made, open the file. You’ll need to copy and paste the contents of the Text document into the post, and put four Tilde (~) marks above the winMTR. It’ll look like this:

It is definitely just an overwatch problem. All of this crap about doing these tests is meaningless. Even if it was something wrong on my side why is ONLY overwatch that is affected? That doesn’t make any sense.

The server isn’t going to cause connection issues for specific ISPs or locations. However, multiple ISPs are going to share routing peers, because there are only so many available in across the globe. It’s usually routing peers that are found to be the source of the problem.

This has been happening to me a lot in the last few days, a lot of ping fluctuations and generally not the ping im used to.

This has been absolute hell playing Genji I feel like someone has me by the balls and pulls me around while double jumping.
I want a solution so bad…
