High Ping - NAE, Ontario to ORD1

Hey there,

I am currently experiencing an issue very similar to the Verizon network issue posted already. I like the OP in the Verizon thread play from near Toronto with 37ms to ORD servers. Today I’m anywhere from 69-89ms to the same servers. Running ping tests and tracerts to other locations do not seem to show any issues. I have also rebooted my network from the modem to PC and I have bypassed the router with no resolution.

Please let me know anything else you may need. Thanks.

Did you check the netgraph and make sure you’re still connecting to ORD? Anyone in North America can connect to ORD or LAX, and your higher ping sounds like Toronto to LAX.

If you made sure, can you add your WinMTR also?

WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud Provider

I can confirm I am having the issue on ORD in-game. I had to move some of the .net areas away to be able to adhere to the forum policy around posting links.

Imgur # Link for ingame; MG30GCn

The training range is a deprioritized server, so you don’t want to run tests to it or look at the netgraph while you’re in there.

Can you run the WinMTR to 24.105.62.129 for at least 5 mins and post another? This one was only 26 seconds/in the training area so it doesn’t tell us much.

If you want to take another netgraph shot, please do so in quick play.

Also, I noticed your computer is quite warm in your screenshot… 79C. I’m willing to bet you have temperature spikes beyond that in team fights, since you’re only in the training area and it’s already that high.

My apologies, I have never used WinMTR before honestly.

Machine is a laptop that gets up to 95 without issue. I was also concerned the first time I gamed out on this thing and saw the numbers but not one bit of throttling has ever occurred.

WinMTR did however come up with more information on the spikes on the longer run - it appears to be an initial spike @ ISP Headend that cascades throughout remaining hops. It’s not constant either. I am escalating the issue with them now. Appreciate your assistance tonight.

I’m glad you figured out where the issue was happening. Also, running at 95C will greatly reduce the lifetime of your hardware, and most auto throttle mechanisms (reduce performance) start around 85C and up.
