High ping in Australia

When I was playing an Overwatch game in Adelaide, Australia, the ping lasted from 45 three months ago to about 200 now. I conducted an MTR test, and the results showed that packet loss and delay occurred most in the eastern and central US servers. May I ask How to solve it, if necessary, I will display the test result.

Hey there,

Lets go ahead and grab a winMTR so we can further investigate the problem. Here are the instructions:

  1. Download the tool from this page
  2. Enter the game IP into the “host” field. The IP address for our games are listed on the winMTR instructions page
  3. Start the test and play the affected game for at least 15 minutes. Ensure the problem happens while the winMTR tool is running.
  4. After recording the problem data, click “export text” and save the winMTR file in an easy to find location.
  5. Once you have that made, open the file. You’ll need to copy and paste the contents of the Text document into the post, and put four Tilde (~) marks above the winMTR. It’ll look like this:

Hey there,

It looks like the problem is related to packet loss that’s starting on this node. The best option would be to report the issue to your internet service provider and let them know of the issue. They may reach out to their peer network that is having the problem.

Keep in mind this is by no means a quick fix. It will require both the service provider and their peer network to work together to resolve the issue.

I do hope the info helps. If there’s anything else you might need just let us know.

Press Ctrl+Shift+N when you are in a match, then look at the top left of that graph, you can see a 3 letters code and a IP adress, search that IP then you can know what server you are playing

It is extremely likely that the high ping server you are being placed on is GSG1, which is the Google Singapore server. Blizzard do not intend to fix the routing for people in Perth or Adelaide to this server, or let you choose to not play on it. They haven’t even acknowledged the issue, and probably never will. This is a problem for every isp in Western Australia and South Australia, and the only fix is through the use of vpns.
