High Overwatch 2 ping, Florida, US

Hello everyone.

I’ve been experiencing high ping 70ms+, sometimes 150+, in Overwatch 2 on my Xbox Series X and PS5. It is the only game where I am having this issue and it is frustrating.

I am wired in on both consoles, I have a gigabit spectrum connection and an Asus GS-AX5400 router that is prioritizing gaming above all.

Halo Infinite, Fortnite, and Warzone all give me around 40ms ping consistently .

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Which area of Florida? I’m on the Suncoast but not seeing this issue.

Orlando area.

Overwatch is the only game that I suffer high ping from so I’m assuming it’s a server issue?

I don’t think so. I’m south of you and connect through Orlando. Have you checked WinMTR?

I’m playing on console.

If you have access to a computer, you could check the server IP from there. Unfortunately, Blizzard discontinued the Looking Glass Tool :expressionless:

How do I go about checking the overwatch server on my laptop?

Just use the Chicago IP from the WinMTR page

Charter is routing you from Orlando down to Miami, so you’re picking up quite a bit of latency because of the ISP. Not sure why they’re doing it, but it’s worth asking.

Okay, then I have 2 follow up questions.

  1. Is this something Spectrum can even fix for me?

  2. Why is it that Overwatch is the only game that gives me such high latency? It wasn’t this bad before.

Warzone, Apex, Fortnite and even Halo Infinite give me 30ms-60ms ping

  1. Yes, Charter can look into the route and make improvements on it, but it will probably take a lot of your time on the phone with them.
  2. I don’t know where the servers for those games are hosted. If I had to guess, they are probably west of Chicago and use a different route, as will all services unless they are hosted in the same building.

What should I say to a Spectrum tech on the phone so they know exactly what I’m talking about and they can begin to fix it?
