High-End PCs are Wild!

Yesturday, at BlizzCon, I had the pleasure of playing OW on a high-end PC. Felt like I was playing a whole different game! :exploding_head:

First, I bought LE SSERAFIM Sierra (absolutely love her!) then I joined a 6v6 OQ match. The match was on Route 66. Right when the game started, it felt so different than what Im used to! The combination of ths monitor and the gaming PC made the graphics so smooth and so detailed! I definitely felt the realism playing. The Sierra skin animations were mezmorizing  After a few keyboard mapping adjustments, I felt much more comfortable playing with a mouse and keyboard (i play with an XB1X controller on my PC at my apartment). I played Sierra the whole match.

We barely win the game, close fight! Somehow, I got POTG as Sierra, and it wasnt even for a D.O.R.T.H.Y Drone Strike! :exploding_head:

Looks I need I need a high-end PC set-up to truly unlock my own abilities! :pachimari_alarmed:

So, I’m curious… Do you use your own account or is there accounts you already logged in on the pcs borrow at the event? Non the less, when I swapped from my old 1080 GPU to my 9070 it was night and day to some extent. I typically closed everything but discord if I wanted to play OW as to not lag and I also did so much better. It’s unreal how much a good PC can do for certain games  :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Just get an average priced gaming pc that lets you play on 165 fps at least. That’s enough for overwatch. I played in my friends setup once and he has an oled monitor and i think around 300 fps but I couldn’t tell the difference. 165 fps is smooth enough.

Yeah my PC died recently (it was like 8 years old) and had to swap to another, older computer and swap some hardware around, and I can definitely feel the struggling, I have to close stuff just to play the game at a playable framerate (I’m saying like above 30 fps here, below that and I just struggle cause of how fast paced the game is).

The worst is when I’m in battles and something happens that freezes my game for that perfect 0.5 seconds where I can win a duel, aaaand I’m dead cause I just held A / D and fired in a random direction. :sob: - Its not often, but god when it happens oh. BOY. do I not like it :sob: (This is also why I don’t exactly play comp)

I can only imagine how glorious and beautiful it was. :face_holding_back_tears:

Optimal settings turn alot of the effects down actually.

the gap between 60 and 144hz monitors its already crazy, if you throw in resolution and low latency it sadly becomes pay to perform, but pc`s by themselves are also a good hobby, so welcome to the dark side, we have cookies.

Yep but they’re really expensive nowadays!

I’m pretty happy with the GF RTX 5080 rigs!

Also electricity prices went up a lot so it’s not economic at least in my country to run a high-end PC for a long period!

I have a pretty decent machine. And yeah, it is nice. I am glad you had a good time at Blizzcon! Do some research before you go get the PC of your dreams.

Out of curiosity, I installed my backup RTX 2060 to see how it holds up with my 9800X3D (holy bottleneck Batman!!! lol) after talking aout older hardware with a work colleague, and it still runs the game flawlessly, and it’s perfect for comp OW as I always play 1080p with every single graphic detail at minimum detail and uncapped FPS-FPS never dropped below 330 (have a 360HZ refresh rate OLED).

Surprising just how old some hardware can be but still runs the game without issue

ow is very cpu heavy, youd get way lower fps if swapped to a cpu of the same age

I still have my 5600X from 2021…tempted to pair them to see what it’s like. And I’m very sure I’ve still got my 3000 series CPU but can’t remember what model I bought as Amazon is only going so far back date wise.

I’ve gotta be careful here as well, as going down the testing rabbit hole is VERY addictive lol

Going from my little 3070 gaming laptop to this current 9800X3D and 9070 XT rig felt like night and day. Also going from 1080p to 2K resolution was amazing.

well i can tell you that my 9600k did 200 consistent with a 3060 12gb, for reference pfff

60 FPS is good enough for me to where I can still enjoy the game!

That cuz you have 9800x3d. Games, like overwatch, heavily depends of cpu insted of gpu, thats why amds with 3d cache are the best solution for this type of games, btw, 2060 is not that bad of a gpu, if its a 8bg and super version, have her on my older pc and she holds great even today.

True!

I definitely wont be getting one anytime soon. If only I had that kind of money  But Im definitely going to try make it a goal in say the next 2 years to get a real high-end PC. I have seen and experienced the Promiseland :smiling_face_with_tear:

Sadly not, wasn’t in stock where I am at the time so opted for the 6GB. There was some remorse a few days later lol. But yeah pleasantly surprised by this little GPU. And because it’s single slot I could build myself a cheap PC for the front room for some light gaming to go with my Switch 2.

You can buy a very good PC for about $3-4k. Now this sounds very expensive, but consider that a PC like that will likely last you a good 7-10 years.

Your peripherals and software (like games) aren’t as expensive as proprietary consoles. Games that you buy on systems like Steam do not require you to buy them again. You don’t have to pay subscriptions for things like cloud saving.

PCs are expensive up front, but balance out over the long run.

Consoles are often sold for minimal profit or even a loss by companies, because they’re going to exploit you when it comes to game prices and controllers.

You can also just do more things with a PC if you want to actually do work for a job, school, or hobby. Consoles can’t really do that. All they can do is play games with minimal additional functions.
