The same as always, if you suspect someone of being a boosted player, report them. It’s always been Blizzard’s job to catch them. If their profile is hidden or not shouldn’t discourage you from reporting someone you’re suspecting being boosted.
Through the looking for group tool also given, or by talking. You’re not always in need of profiles to make suggestions.
The same as always, if someone isn’t contributing to the fight or team composition, report them for gameplay sabotage and move on. What else would you do with them with the profile, ridicule them and yell at them as per usual Overwatch standards?
Pretty sure you don’t need a profile to identify them. I’ve had no problem reporting trollers and throwers without the use of their profile.
With great power comes great responsibility, and the community hasn’t used that responsibility in a good way. More often than not, people have used the profile to throw insults and used your SR to “devalue” your opinion, both in-game and on this forum. And they’re giving people a LFG tool as well, so you can compose the team you want and pick the people you’d like, so you’re still getting that leadership and team composition you want.
Believe me, Ive seen it. Truth is, most dont like to go support or tank. And if a person who is more likely to tilt sees that the “Legendary 500+ hr Mercy main” is going Soldier and he cannot because its either his main or because there is only so much dps you can pick before it is a meme comp… Things get… Interesting, to say the least.
While I think this will absolutely be the effect I don’t agree that it motivates making profiles public. I think they should simply not have public profiles at all. There should not be a profile… Had there never been one in the first place then people would have gotten into the habit of communicating in the beginning of a match if they wanted to truly win. Profiles have contributed to so much toxicity and I wish they never existed…
If you are constructing a premade, its simple. Make it a rule that you dont invite people to your premade / clan / etc if they dont show you their profile, then simply follow through.
If you are trying to form a pickup group then why worry so much about stats?
Stuff like “gear score”, “armory”, and linkable achievements have caused so many more problems than they ever solved. They serve no purpose other than to allow for bullying, gatekeeping, and discrimination.
Is all to your argument is? Calling people toxic as a reason for us disagreeing with this change shows your lack of arguments as to why it should be kept.
You should read my full constructive post, as it addresses basically everything you have said.
I totally agree with you.My English is not good .But I come here ,for the reason that I hope Jeff could hear my vocie.
I hope “Private Profile” could be kept open to everyone.
You mean the toxic hellhole environment where people will regularly abuse each other over? Using arbitrary stats and ranks as some kind of grand indication that the person deserves to be treated like trash?
Gee this competitive environment is so great, obviously this private profile change would ruin it. It’s not like toxic people ruined this for themselves.
I rarely ever see that happen. And considering I’m not the one complaining if I see the player doesn’t want to go Mercy even tho he/she might have 500 hours on her, but the character he/she picked has at least okay-ish stats, I’m going to fill in for him/her. That until I do that and find the said person is extremely bad and not willing to change to anything else. I get tiled and next match I’m most likely going to play w/e I want to(heroes I’m good as only cuz I don’t like losing lel).
Yea you’re right, the toxics ruined this for players like myself who don’t attack players based on their most played or stats. Y’know, the players trying to win? The players who are polite?
Sure, let the toxics win. Toxic players are toxic regardless of visible stats. If they really want to harass you over it they’ll just use Overbuff now. Or say that you’re bad based on your performance in game.
Makes sense, ruining something for the countless upstanding players just because a minority were mean, oh no!
Um, what is that supposed to mean? How does that justify all the complications it brings? A few meaningless words from some online players is justification for screwing over countless non-toxic competitive players?
No other competitive title has this feature. You know why? Its garbage and doesn’t help vs toxicity. Competitiveness is more valuable than a thing that lowers toxicity by 0.01%.
Overbuff can only display profiles that are not set to hidden now. Instead it displays outdated data, and as more time passes, the more inaccurate it will get.
Well I’m in a clan, and when we’re not 6 stacked we’re getting people through LFG now and talking with them before even queuing up to get hero pools and whatnot sorted out.
So yeah, I think I’m going to keep my profile to friends only. Means the vast majority of people I play with can still see it anyways.
