I know we got a few weeks until the next hero (a tank) is revealed but it’s always fun to speculate! Who do you think it’ll be? These are some clues Aaron gave us:

The character is male.

It’s a character we’ve seen in the lore before.

The map that is coming in season 2 is connected to this hero.
Your guesses? I’m like 99% sure it’s gonna be Mauga. He was meant to be hero 31 and he’s been probably the most requested character (after JunkerQueen) plus we know the devs planned for him to be a tank.
My 2nd (much less likely guess) is Sanjay (Symmetra’s boss). When Aaron said the season 2 map and hero are connected I remembered a India map is confirmed for OW2. If the season 2 map is India then I could see a Vishkar hero be added (most likely Sanjay as we know a lot about him). Also India was meant to be a Control map in OW1 and a Dev said a control map will be added soon…
3rd guess is the omnic from the Storm Rising mission. I think he’s more likely to be a boss in PvE but I won’t rule him out as a hero.
So yeah I think Mauga. Who do you all think?
PS It won’t be MEKA squad as devs confirmed they have no plans for them to be playable atm.

I’d like Sanjay, I feel like they’d come up with a really cool tank design with the hard light construction stuff. And it’d mean more Sym interactions which I feel are kinda lacking atm.

I thought Mauga was 100% the next hero. No question. I didn’t think there were any other possible choices.

I think the Stone by Stone story proves Sym is going to play a big part in the future of the story (sooner or later she’ll discover Sanjay’s secret), adding another Vishkar character would help with that.
I still think hero 36 is Mauga but a hard-light tank would be pretty cool ngl.

Omg I totally forgot to read that…that’s super encouraging though. I’d be so happy with Mauga too. And TBH OW2’s hero design with tanks has knocked it out of the park IMHO, so I’m really excited to see what kit they come up with

A hard light support would be too, and since hero 37 will likely be another support and also highly likely to be male, well…

True but I remember in Moria’s origin video there’s a suit on the screen behind Sanjay and a lot of people thought it could be a suit for Sanjay.
A lot of the characters are “regular” until they get Armor or abilities or weapons etc

I think we’re getting 2 supports next year, I would definitely like one of them to be male as we don’t have many male supports so far

Pretty sure Mauga was practically confirmed to be the next tank. Sigma’s kit was initially going to be his, but they felt it didn’t suit his personality (for real) and they were working on a new kit for him, and that was while ago when that was said.
Kinda hope he’s a barrier tank, but instead of it being a typical barrier, it’s a reflective barrier, returning some damage blocked to the attacker. Be a good way to make a defensive ability have offensive pressure

Not only that but they said we have seen him before, and there aren’t really alot of tank guys we have seen before the “omnic guy and mauga”

Yeah but. The new tank hero will be tied to the new map that also comes in season 2. We know Mauga’s hometown but the omnic guy’s hometown is unknown(unless havana is it’s home town) then it’s 100% going to be mauga lol.
I think the India map (Varanasi) is for a new mode, so we won’t be seeing it just yet.
Probably one of them is going to be max his icon was in yokai’s pdf along with kiriko, jq, and soujorn plus we got a map connected to him now (circuit royale)
