But the thing is, at the time most people thought it was Doomfist. Looking back at it now, yeah it was a build-up for Orisa and it looks “obvious” but that’s only when you see the entire picture, not just a part of the puzzle.
Same with Brig - the first teaser definitely made it possible that Emre could be the next hero. And the first Wrecking Ball teaser had the Junker Queen in the back on those posters. There’s always something to make you wonder who the next hero’s going to be, regardless of the teaser.
For Orisa, Doomfist popping up felt more like it was setting him up to be hero 25 rather than that immediate teaser, due to his lack of relevance to the previous post (as well as the popular Anchora speculation that built up the idea of the OR14s being rebuilt and playable)
Brig’s was misdirection.
There was no misdirection with Hammond’s. The Scrapyard poster was minor and small compared to the larger Horizon poster, and the Queen being in London made less sense than the mysterious Hammond we knew nothing about. The surprise was Hammond being Wrecking Ball, and the Scrapyard poster actually being relevant.
But Emre was a red herring. Only Emre. Not the Queen, not Doomfist.
What are your thought on this “Baptiste is the next hero” everyone is going wild with?
Baptiste has more than one indication in his favour. Aside from the letter being about Cuerva describing him in great detail rather than themself, the main document is also about retrieving the last message from a strike team that went missing, with the message giving context as to why - They were presumably eliminated by Baptiste.
Aside from the good shot, lucky, survivalist medic’s description, we also had Sombra’s hex code in the tweet, which was a string of gibberish that contained “Baptiste”
I’d say with these teasers, he’s at the almost-certain side of the spectrum for hero 30. There is a chance they could redirect it with something else, but that is small. And compared to Emre, Baptiste was not only given much greater detail, but was also given the focus in a document with exclusively new characters, rather than being in the shadow of Torbjorn/Reinhardt.
