So someone on 4chan mentioned a “leak” of the next hero being a male archaeologist, probably Hamid Faisal.
Hinted at in Bastet, Petra as a dig site, IRL promo material going to streamers filled with Paris stuff and Hamid’s name on the suitcase, his name has references to fecundity or restoration of life (healer)
We know of the large rectangular “thing” on Oasis thats been scanning in the University. Theres a current dig in Petra. And theres currently a large rectangular ‘thing’ under a sheet that is being hidden for reveal on the second point in the Paris map. Theres a bartender bot meaning theres some sort of reveal party. I’d say he’s either revealing the rectangular thing, or trying to steal it (because it belongs in a museum)
Ok. So you have a Talon event with healer Sombra. Who are your other 3 heroes? Doomfist, Widowmaker… And then you reach the problem for number 4. Do you give Reaper/Moira a repeat? Or is it hero 30?
I think Moira had some lines about it. No one made a comment on Moira’s choice of healing or Genji’s dragon either, but those were still in effect.
Torbjorn did not make it for Ana. Torbjorn designed it, and Mercy said she did not want a prototype to be made. We have nothing to suggest Ana ever used it before her death, especially considering she was still using the Kinamura on her final mission.
Take leaks with a grain of salt. They like to base themselves on popular or well reasoned speculation to try and get people to follow their words like gospel. That being said, that “leak”'s prediction is in line with my own.
I personally expect a talon omnic tank as our next hero. It’d make a lot of sense honestly, since we need another tank, only have three omnics and haven’t gotten anything talon related in a while.
As much as I am seriously hoping for Junkerqueen, that’s what I expect most.
It is exactly what is currently available. I have been saying since Bastet’s release that Hamid was the top candidate. You can even see that in the top reply on this thread.
This leak isn’t a leak. Its just speculation by someone who is on the same train of speculation as I am. Maybe they came to the same conclusion. Maybe they heard someone who came to the same conclusion. But even if Hamid is hero 30, that doesn’t make this leak true.
Moira just asks how he’s adapting to treatment. I think it would be easy to guess if you saw the man literally turning into smoke. The extent of his canon changes at the time is kinda vague.
Basically, since we know in-game mechanics are up for debate when it comes to canon abilities, it’s a good question to ask if stuff we see heroes do in brawls are necessarily canon. I doubt Gabe was a full blown smoke man that early buy they couldn’t exactly design a new hero kit for him. The same might happen to Ana.
But either way, yeah, Archives will have repeating heroes no matter what. I’d take it for a Cairo mission. I’d also like to see more ex-Overwatch agents as heroes, not only for Archives but also because that means more important lore connected to the main story.
The exception being Faisal. I’d love to get him next and I hope him being a recurring character means exactly that.
The thing is : we don’t know when Reyes got is Reaper abilities. That’s it. Only speculations.
Every one jumped on the conclusion that Moira gave him his powers.
But Reaper was active for “decades” according to his bio, and Chu said the wording of his bio was intentionnal… so either he had those powers for decades and uses some edgy cover name (and let’s be honest, those powers are usefull when you’re killing rogue robots or and a cover name is clever when running questionnable Black Ops missions) or someone else had those abilities (How? How did this person got those abilities years and years before Moira joined BW??) and Reyes took the Reaper name as his own latter on (nice cover here for double agent Reaper theory)
I still think he had those powers since (probably) SEP, and with him getting old, those powers were not as effective as before : it’s now canon for Soldier when you see him struggling in Bastet, with the desert heat that is body is supposed to adapt to, and his healing that is not as effective as before…
So Reyes hired Moira, maybe she copied a bit of his abilities and she used this for her own purpose (with less side effect, she didn’t go through SEP enhancements/genetic modifications)
So all this rambling to say : I still root for Reyes with his Reaper abilities in a next Archives event, I wouldn’t be surprised by it, and it would just confirmed this theory.
Probably because in Moira’s origin story, we see her experimenting on Reyes and he has a surprised expression on his face when his body suddenly turns to smoke.
But you’re right, there’s still a lot of mystery around all that, especially considering Chu’s words about his bio being intentional. I guess it could also mean that someone else was Reaper and that Reyes took over that name later when the original Reaper died, but why would that be in his bio?
We’re still kinda in the dark about his powers. Moira definitely intervened, but to what extent and when were those powers finalised and how?
Wouldn’t say that fam. She is clearly a double agent, also hinted at that by Chu himself. I mean, they released OW actions figures and it said on their twitter “Initiating Recall” “Wave 1 agents” and Sombra was there. That’s a pretty clear indication. They shown everyone that was apart of OW and a “good guy” at the time. They gave us Blackwatch Reyes not Reaper and then Sombra? That’s not coincidental.
He was struggling because he was injured . . . his wounds weren’t healing because Reaper’s shotgun has necrotic rounds that prevented him from healing. It wasn’t because he was old.
Because she was shown giving him his powers. There is zero indication that he had any wraith abilities before Moira worked on him.
Shown? This is what I see : she has a hand on his shoulder, Reyes has smoke pouring his body, he look affraid/startle, and she is monitoring some results. That’s not necessary means she is giving him his powers. Could be some side effects?
Yeah, there are none. Does that mean he didn’t have those before? No. So many lack of lore for so many characters
That’s why people jumped on this conclusion. That’s the easy conclusion. But not confirmed unless they confirm it.
“Decades” Reaper was active for “decades” why, why, why?!? Unless we have an answer to this question, we can’t say for sure where and when Reyes got his Reaper powers.

Talon medic and a mission in Haiti; we may have a new Caribbean map if this becomes an archive with Talon’s Strike Team. Sombra, Widowmaker, Doomfist, Reaper, Moira…
