Does this account for the 25% headshot reduction as well? You should include that as well if you haven’t or people will say you’re skewing the numbers.
Yep. They nerfed like 3 garbage tier “tank busters,” so that the rest of the DPS roster (more importantly, the meta DPS) could become far more effective tank busters.
Large caliber sniper and magnum rounds cut through people better than steel and kevlar. Smaller rounds can be fired faster with less recoil, but each bullet/pellet carries less kinetic energy and is more easily mitigated by armor. So the new armor mechanics reflect more accurate ballistics – perhaps a little too well for many players here.
I thought the HP felt worse now than it did before the patch. I’m getting worn out of all these drastic changes they keep making with this game. Thrn have to deal with the rotating OP tank of the week. Balance in Overwatch doesn’t ho anywhere, but around in circles.
Orisa is now worse off against high dmg per shot heroes, while Hog stays the same.
Reaper is now much less effective against armor tanks, while Ashe got stronger.
It looks like this encourages Counterwatch even more. So I wonder… whyyy did Blizz do this??
Who cares. 80 or 108 DPS is trash into tanks. Mercy has 100 DPS and the whole community knows that’s laughable amount. Ashe doesn’t want to be wasting her time shooting tanks. She wants to 2-3 tap supports/DPS. She doesnt’ even have any burst DPS options to get through defensive utility like bubble, defense matrix, shields, etc. Ashe shooting tanks is a huge waste of her time unless she has nothing else in LoS.
Ashe is not the character you give a flying flip if they are dying fast. People keep fixating on these pathetic damage numbers and not realizing that many of the higher DPS units are affected by this armor change. Bastion and Reaper who are the easiest tanks in the game are heavily neutered by this armor change greatly reducing the easy burst against tanks. While flattening out the atrocious DPS into tanks of Ashe vs the higher ones. Now, Ashe 108 DPS = Reaper 108 DPS, but when armor is stripped he’s back up to 215 DPS again and loving that 35% health steal. His match-ups vs armor tanks is a bit worse, but his match-ups agaisnt Mauga/Hog/Zarya/etc. are all relatively unchanged.
Oh, lordly the DPS with one of the most trash sustained damages in the game got a sustain dmg buff from F tier to D tier. Meanwhile, the important part of tank deletion was someone like Ashe landing double headshots back to back and you go from like full health to -300hp on tanks with no armor as a high situational nuke.
Then Blizzard did the smart and gave tall tanks headshot reduction, so now Ashe can’t 2 tap a tank for 300 dmg. She can only do 225. Which is similar to what a tank with armor used to do, but now its a defense when said tanks have no armor remaining.
This is a demonstration just how stupidly hard it is to heal tanks now, with armor nerfs making it harder, stacking with the DPS passive which makes it harder still.
Neither of these heroes are played hardly at all. Bastion does more damage with his primary fire, it’s only his turret that does less, and you’re not surviving it either way. Reaper was so infrequently played that he wasn’t an issue.
Only 6 DPS in the game see worse numbers against the new armor. The rest all do way more damage to it. Pretending that it nerfed “all the big hitters” is silly. The ones who got hit were Tracer, Sombra, Reaper. Sojourn about equals out (less smg, more rail) and Bastion does less in turret, more in sentry.
