Ruined? No. Damaged? Most definitely. Then again it messes up pretty much everything it touches.
It has absolutely has made things worse. No company should ever play the moral police . Talking smack has been an integral part of anything thatâs competitive, from pick up basketball to board games. All their policies are doing is ruining kids by sheltering and spoiling them. Wait until these kids enter the real adult world, theyâre in for rude awakening. If you make a product Itâs not your responsibility to police how your consumer use it.
Right, because Blizzard shouldnât be responsible for cheaters, throwers, smurfs, or toxic people. That issue should be left toâŚ?
Not the problem, actually. I assure you, there are a niche of people youâre striking down- and rightfully so- but heâs referring to the community complaints to design a character around the fact. The consensus (as Iâve seen) is that people want characters built around lore, not a sexual orientation.
oh you mean a team game where youâve just met your teammates 5 minutes ago and youâll never see them again once the match is over
live stats donât mean anything in the NFL. but if new teams were formed each and every week from an MMR system, and all the players wore ski masksâŚthen yes, a live scoreboard would be beneficial/necessary.
If Iâm a tank and I see an underperforming DPSâŚI switch to DPS, because screaming at him doesnât do anything
This isnât unique to OW, but just a global cultural trend. Todayâs societal prescription to external stressors is keeping children in a bubble, and man-children in safe spaces.
The fact is when you get your first performance review you realize youâre mediocre and need to actually work hard and face criticism. Constructive criticism isnât toxic, but an opportunity to improve yourself. Iâm against blatant demeaning of an individual of course, but growing a thicker skin is much more effective than shutting down discourse an ideas youâre against.
Fun fact. Letting children fight out their problems give them the chance to learn social skills to handle conflict in the future. Itâs much more useful than an adult intervening as a moral arbiter every time which doesnât allow them to learn moral independance.
How three comp matches in a row typically goes for me: I dual-queue with a buddy. We are matched with 4 other players (obviously). If we win and queue again right away, three or four players from our previous team are with us again. If we win again and queue instantly, the players are now on the other team. That can be 45-minutes of play with and 15-20 minutes of playing against the same players. Iâve seen the same players in my matches a day later, too.
I played pubg the other day, I played it when it first came out, kind of avoided it due to issues it had and just recently loaded it up again. I had more fun in the few rounds of pubg I played than Iâve had in overwatch in like two or three seasons. If that doesnât say anything nothing will lmao
you ask for people to have an open mind yet youâre clearly bashing people (SJWs) that have open minds. ok.
I solo queue.
I play three games in a row.
I practically never see anyone twice.
Once in a blue moon Iâll see someone twice.
(also, donât you play on console? I think the player pool is smaller)
Even if what you say is true (it isnât), there are scores of games that cater to the things you apparently prefer.
Also using loaded terms like âSJW Mentalityâ undermines your entire argument. Itâs a bad faith posture so you might want to turn your request for open minds inward.
Also, to rebut your points:
It is in fact a popular competitive game. There is an entire professional league with enormous brand sponsorships and TV deals around it. That said it is not âonlyâ a competitive game. Many many people that enjoy Overwatch do not play competitive mode and the Platinum and above ranks are a minority of those players that do.
There is a scoreboard, just not one that you like.
Itâs a team game. Solo kills donât really factor into objectives or wins.
You can always leave the wrap up screens if the team congrats messages rankle you that much, or do better to be highlighted among them.
If you lost, do you need something to over emphasize it? These forums are littered with posts and comments from people that have a hard time with losing streaks and losing scenarios. You want the game to rub peopleâs noses in it more?
Yes, people can play what they want. Itâs a game. If they make poor choices there are usually consequences.
No one knows about your issues with âwokeâ sex preferences except you. Can we presume you want more roided out raging white guys with guns? Do you know how many different people like and play video games?
Your SR complaint makes little sense. Again this forum is littered with people believing they belong in higher ranks, not lower ones. People complain about dropping all of the time and how much harder it is to climb. Just as many say itâs easy and to git gud so if youâre as hardcore as pretending to be your SR should be all shiny and lorded over others, no?
If you feel the chars are overly simplified maybe itâs just time to move on? OW came out 2.5 years ago.
Again - there are probably 100 or more games of the kind you seem to be hinting at that you would prefer. It shouldnât be hard to find happiness.
A lot of people say the system is made to remove toxicity and I agree with the OP, the system doesnât work and only panders to those who annoy others by NOT playing as a team member and when you ask them to help, start harassing you with veiled insults, bringing about your honest response which then gets YOU banned. My 10 cents.
wow how has this thread/OP not been banned? i think all of my bans have come from saying the same kinds of things.
pandering to SJWs and casuals is the worst thing creators can do.
they dont care about what everthing they are organizedly harassing the creator for, all they care about is getting the creator to pander and compromise to their arbitary whims.
they do it with loads of other entertainment. and itâs the same story over and over: usual suspects minority, cant stand things that are mainstream and popular so they organise and harass, intimidate and bully the creators (and their critics) until they pander to them. everyone who actually likes the thing leave because they dont want radical propagander shoved down their throats 24/7, then all the minority people move on to harass someone else. so the creator is left with a lousy product and no audience.
same with ow all the people who just want to play a decent competative game have gone to valorant. we will see if the people left playing ow is enough to pay the bills maybe send a bill to all the whiny casuals and sjws who complained the game into its current unfun unplayable state.
The only thing that is as you stated above is the lack of a proper system to deal with leavers. Much like they had when role q released because most likely they thought people would be bullied into leaving. Taking away the competitive integrity they just added into the game. Which is just sad if you can be bullied into leaving by randoms. Especially with a mute button and leaving team chat.
I canât imagine how these people would survive in the lack of a safe space that was halo or modern warfare back in the 2000âs.
Definitely.
Overwatch has never been a skill based game cos it was designed for ppl with little skill to still be able to play it which is why theres so many stuns and spam weapons.
The absolute worst thing tho was no scoreboard. Why? To stop players who are c rap from being at the bottom? f s.
Nah. Itâs the trash, bott hurt smurfs and alt accounts thatâs running this game.
But devs donât care cuz bank go Ching!
SJW mentality has ruined the world. weâre too scared to live our lives atm despite multiple studies and tons of statistics showing healthy people arenât at risk
weâre actually terrified to enter the âunsafe spaceâ that is the natural world until someone develops a vaccine.
⌠pathetic.
My SJW friends would emphatically disagree with you. They would then turn around and say something silly like, âWell that is your truth.â To say that an SJW ideology has nothing to do with what takes place in game is to admit you are unaware of how much things have shifted in first world cultures. Take a look at how things were 70 years ago in the US compared to 20 years ago. Heck just google âSJW gaming cultureâ.
