Agreed. I think OW will just run its playerbase off and no game will really be there. If you look at it there are no other studios that are really great anymore they all are shrouded in controversy m.
I plan on writing a review here that discusses the pros and cons, and the frame cap and server issues are definitely going in there.
Make sure to play clash before you review. It’s the real mode and I hear rush sucks in comparison.
I have not played Clash, but will absolutely put a couple of hours into it. IMO rush is much more OW like. You all start at max levels. Its less about the moba grind loop. Lots of favorable comparisons. They have Bastion, Moira, and arguably Orisa type heroes.
Yep. Just difficult to find funding for it, and even when they were developing it, they just kept running out of money. And Microsoft was willing to invest more into them, despite the fact that they had a potential hit with them.
And yeah, it is difficult to describe how the game works, but it feels a lot simpler in practice than most MOBAs, attributed to the core design, I guess.
I’m just waiting them out until they get it together before I take the plunge. I was an original Founders Pack player, so… been burned before, not willing to get burned again until its stable.
Clash is the final round, whereas Rush dumbs down the game to the core essentials without too much work on the towers or points.
The full game, requires you to setup up the towers/pets on each point and then contest a center (or two) points with a fourth tower/pet. Then after scoring two points, the battleground changes into a Clash where you’ll face off.
You get Power Orbs either by killing targets, or by the control points/pets. Dying will also yield points to the enemy team. Kill the Guardian’s health by knocking all three Life Points out to win the game.
They do not. OW on console supports high framerate mode.
So buy one. The game developer can make any requirements they want.
Irrelevant. The game should not be designed to pull people down to the lowest common denominator just because someone doesnt have better hardware. There are people that will play the game on older hardware and get 20fps. There’s people using speakers instead of headphones and have almost no directional audio. There’s going to be people playing on controllers, or trackpads instead of a mouse with a good sensor.
Limiting people because of what others dont have is simply bad design. If your game has PvP, the playing field is equalized with matchmaking.
So again - incompetence. Bad design or bad technical skill.
For Gigantic or for Elden Ring? Just want to clarify since I presume you mean Gigantic since that’s what your thread is about, but the specific post you replied to was referring to Elden Ring.
Gigantic wouldnt be appropriate to post an elden ring review here. I’d like to review gigantic from the perspective of an overwatch player and talk about the similarities and differences. What one game gets right over the other and what we can learn from them’
I played zenobia today and she’s what Moira should be imo.
They do - everyone has to use a controller…
Wouldn’t make sense - most PC players don’t own a controller so it just creates an extra expense for the players…
A large advantage isn’t irrelevant in the context of a level playing field…
60Hz is the most common refresh rate screen so it makes sense…
Most PC players have a 60Hz screen and a system that can meet 60 FPS…
Most people own a mouse and a good sensor mouse is cheaply available…
You’ve made no real argument as to why…
Does that argument justify the use of cheats then?
Why should one person be able to rank up just because they spent a significant amount more on a better screen?
I’ve watched a few streamers play Gigantic. I haven’t played myself but here’s my thoughts on it so far. I still think OW2 (and Valorant) is better/more fun if I wanna be sweaty and try hard/play competitively.
But I could see myself wanting to play Gigantic instead if I’m not feeling in the mood for competition and just wanna have fun and play casually. I love the artistic design of Gigantic and I think it looks pretty. The game looks fun too, just not as competitive as OW2 because it doesn’t seem to reward good aim that much.
I’m honestly considering installing Gigantic. And SMITE better watch out, I think they’re in for a competition.
I presumed you meant locking the framerate. If that comment was about controllers, then I dont understand the relevance of your comment. My comment about forcing everyone to use a controller obviously isn’t about console gaming.
You mean like every component and peripheral involved with a computer?
Not everyone has a mouse, some people may only have a laptop.
Some people do not have headphones or speakers (not all computers come with audio peripherals).
Some people do not have monitors that meet latency requirements - should we intentionally add add a delay for all input?
Not all users have ethernet, should they simulate interference to match people playing on WIFI?
The developers can apply any arbitrary restriction they want. You can absolutely make a game that only supports controllers if you wanted to.
Not when you ignore all the other things that can “level the playing field.” You’re only focusing on one particular aspect of the problem and ignoring all the potential solutions.
That’s not a good excuse at all. Intel integrated graphics is the most common type of GPU. Should everyone be forced to play at low graphics too? Just because something is common doesn’t mean you punish people who have better.
Controllers are cheaply available too.
Firstly, I did. That was the entire point of the reply I made. Secondly, it’s also just common sense. I don’t think I should have to explain to you why artificially hindering your product and making it worse on purpose is a bad idea.
Now you’re just being silly.
Having superior hardware doesn’t make the player themselves better, it only eliminates issues caused by the hardware in the first place. Cheats bypass the rules of the game to give you an advantage that nobody else can get. Anyone is allowed to go out and buy a new monitor.
I’ll flip the question on you - why should one person be hindered and held down because someone else couldn’t? And why should someone deserve to be the same rank as someone who is actually better than them but held back by their equipment?
It’s counterproductive and all it serves to do is prevent people from improving when they can. The idea of restricting people to the least common denominator in a game or sport is just a very misguided process.
It’s pretty good. Bogged down by server issues. But when you actually get into a game. Solid. Worse than Ow1, but Ow2? Ehhhhh…
If you enjoyed Ow1 but dislike Ow2, I’d give it a try.
It may get a little bit more attention since some streamers were playing it.
Cool game (assuming they will fix servers) but I wouldnt go in expecting much post launch patches.
Personal problem, it runs better than that on xbox one. I got 30 fps on a console i paid 100$ for. Its not great or anything, but ok.
Its not like your an expert on something you never owned or tried yourself on anything
Tbh, the first time I heard about Gigantic was not so long ago in their “revamp” game release I think.
Idk the game, it has cool big robots? or time mages?
It’s great game very near and dear to me, but man, the technical issues… If you’re used to “Blizzard polish” (OW still has some), you’ll sure be missing it in Gigantic. But if you can live with that, then I highly recommend.
I am 90% certain that Blizzard was kinda peeking at Gigantic’s homework when they made Moira.
Cool, I’m super glad they got the game to run okay on a platform designed to a particular specification that never changes and has almost zero variation.
Now on PC, the game is horribly optimized and runs like garbage on many peoples’ very high end computers. Not a personal problem, a common one.
You seem to be taking personal offense to me calling the game horribly optimized or something. It’s cool you like the game - more power to you. But it doesn’t really have anything to do with a well documented technical issue of the game.
Ive seen people run it 55-60 fps fine. You dont even play it yourself, and its not about me liking the game.
You just dont know much about the topic. If someone is getting 20 fps thats on them. Its not that bad. Talk about something you actually know about.
