Well I mean Hanzo is a hard character to balance properly after the Rework he got because of just how much they pumped into his kit that he lacked before
They gave him a disengagement tool, more uptime on his wallhack, and a MUCH more reliable access to high burst damage on barriers and players alike
The Balance team really needs to sit down and have a hard look at heroes like Widow, Hanzo, Doomfist, McCree, and Ashe and think about the burst/ sustained damage situation that the game is currently in.
The scapegoat of Tanks and Healing are gone now, but the burst damage heroes are still the go-to for 99% of the playerbase
Ashe? What’s wrong with ashe? Shes in my opinion the most balanced “sniper” and I think the devs should learn from her while balancing widow and hanzo. No insta kill without a damage boost, takes more than 1 second to kill someone, has a fair and non game breaking ability. There’s a reason she isnt played as much as those two and its because shes the only balanced one whereas they are op.

Yeah. But the point made was that they’d have to adjust to league level play after nerfs, so Sigma would indeed then be in that same boat as Orisa.
There’s obviously more to it than that because Bap and Orisa were played but Sigma and Hanzo were not. Then again Bap was meh.
The problem with Ashe is her rate of fire mixed with the burst damage; it’s the same kind of issue that McCree has
They can both do burst damage as quickly as any sustained damage hero, and with the much weaker healing, burst damage steps even further ahead.
Why would you play Soldier, who need to land at least 9 bullets that even a Zen can help mitigate, when you could play Ashe/ McCree and almost instantly remove the hero from the fight
Ashe’s dynamite sure isn’t balanced…

That’s true actually. You have to remember most of the op heroes we have today are the way they are because of GOATS. Mccree rate of fire buff, multi freeze Mei, Ashe was introduced with dynamite to try and counter clustering up, reaper had gotten 50% life steal. Now all the healing from 3 supports is gone all these buffed up damage heroes are running rampant and people still cant figure out why
I think there needs to be a full revert of GOATS buffs to be honest because it’s just too much damage in the game.
Like I would take an Ashe in my game every single day over Widow/ Hanzo/ Doomfist to be fair
But the problem is she like the other buffed Goats DPS kind of have become a sour spot of balance
Like Soldier is stronger than he has ever been, yet is seen as weak, meanwhile Ana is the highest on paper healer, who heals LOWER than she did when Soldier was last meta.

It’s because blizzard rushed the balancing of the game to fix goats then just went screw it and added role queue without thinking about what the changed they made would do the game
ashe is in no way overpowered. she has an escape on a longish cd and reloads for like an hour. her dynamite is good but gets laughed at by dva who is also looking good right now. soldier is not overshadowed by ashe at all. they are both in a healthy state. he was overshadowed by hanzo but the last 2 nerfs make that gap less present. soldier isnt that bad and doesnt need buffs.
Pls tell me this is satire pls
Yea let me tell you a little secret here, 99% of the ow playerbase and community isnt in owl, ik shocking but its true lol

balancing based off top level play means that they are more likely to fix issues with characters being op or too weak (assuming they do it right)
because top level players and pros are more likely to find whats busted
i dont know what you are trying to say
So youre telling me then that widow and hanzo arent op hmm, ok suree

hanzo isnt op, widow is not op unless she is aimhacking. she is just strong because she is a sniper hero in an fps. they nerfed her charge time and her grapple cd is back to 12s. i dont understand how you can still complain about widowmaker.
isnt what i said anyways but whatever
“she is a sniper hero in a fps” there you go, snipers dont belong here, and he have 2 that one shot u from oblivion

If you only balance around top level play, you completely ignore the playstyle of lower ranks.
At high rank, if Reaper tries to wander in and beat up your tanks, he dies in seconds because of communication and focus fire. If he tries that at low ranks, he gets away with it easily and the tanks get monched.
A hero can definitely be OP in low ranks and utterly useless at high ranks - Bastion doesnt do too badly at low ranks, for example.
