Lmao exactly like 240 damage headshots are nothing to scoff at
10 damage from any source with everyone having massive weapon hitboxes, you don’t get topped up to full health, etc you’re dead

Yup.
Hanzo can put out 500-to-1000 damage in 1.2sec, for anywhere between 416 damage per second, to 832 damage per second.
Meanwhile Sentry Bastion can “only” do 360 damage per second.
Great job “Lowering Burst Damage” devs.
That further exemplifies my take about global problems. Sure, the Support passive was overpowered, but that doesn’t deny the fact that the DPS passive is also overpowered. I personally believe all passives should be removed. I do not disagree with every hero getting the passive Regen outside of combat. However, it should be the same across all roles. If nothing else, a key take-away was that they should have been dealing with the outliers within each role who are actual problems rather than making a global change that just makes already strong heroes a little weaker (but more valuable in relation to the rest of the cast) while reducing others to trash. At the very least, the game would indeed have felt better with just the changes other than the HP buffs, even without touching the outliers. This would be more akin to a quality of life change.
Sorry but I’m celebrating this potential change to hanzo like hell right now.
Just wanted to share.
Carry on with enjoying your day
The problem with this game has been that low rankers and casuals, who are exceedingly loud, have been complaining about dying to anything they consider to be unfair, since they are unable to understand the simple concept of pathing or positioning. THOSE are the players that have been ruining the game. Granted, Widowmaker is a problem… because she is hitscan. This shows even in high rank lobbies. There has always been counterplay to Hanzo, and it is simple as sidestepping an arrow that would otherwise not have hit them were they not standing still or walking into a clear lane for common Hanzo LOS. The main difference is this: you can’t dodge a Widow bullet after it has been shot. However, you CAN 100% dodge an arrow after it has been released. This is for any armchair game balance fanatics who I’ve seen in the thread: Projectile shots are telegraphed. 1) You can see when the Hanzo is aiming at you. 2) You can see when the arrow is released. 3) You can see the arrow coming toward you. You can react accordingly based on these facts. I have coached many players that have gotten from Silver to even as high as GM — Hanzo is purely a single variable in what their main problem is: positioning/movement. Understand the fundamentals and dying to a Spamzo will very rarely happen.
Balancing from the bottom has resulted in the problems of OW2. Some examples being: buffing Sojourn, Kiriko, Bastion, Torb, Sombra, Hog, the very CREATION of Mauga. Balancing from the top is always the best solution in a competitive shooter.
Lol
one shots was toxic t the game, and doenst belong in 5v5. he has an ability, like everyone else, that he can still bring someone down, you just have to be smarter about it now
They shouldn’t have changed the hp, it’s a terrible change ruining the TTK. The only good take away from the patch is dps having a good passive since the TTK is going to be slow af.
All they should have done is remove all passives. Not touch the hp ruining snipers, flow of the game.
hanzo mains gonna have to learn to aim now
Many people complaining here just making me think that they are these teammates. That, after seeing a widow’s trail shot, go “Oh dang, wouldn’t it be cool to just casually go and stay in that red line for a minute or two! Surely it’s not dangerous over here!”.
And to anyone saying “I am not one of these players!”. Maybe you aren’t, but literally every game with an opposite team having a sniper, I see at least 2 players going out into the open, not using covers. Not thinking of positioning. Not moving in a way to decrease the chances of getting shot. They Just stepping out of cover and then staying completely still. And I am baffled by how many of these players I see.
And on topic, it sucks to see what they cooking. I wish they’d first try using experimental to test it on broad audience.
Mate, you went full Phoenix Wright there, goodness.
Replace “squishy” with “pretty much everyone but tanks”.
His arrows will still one-shot actual squishy targets.
200 hp is squishy buddy. being able to one shot 2 heros and 1 extra under specific scenarios is way too small of a group to call them squishies
At least Grey makes an effort and doesn’t just come and cry about their favourite hero getting some well overdue changes. Hanzo is a sniper, good at mid-range and has storm arrows to take care of anyone close range. He is good everywhere.
And he still will be good everywhere. He gets bigger and faster projectiles in the patch so easier to (randomly) hit targets with his spam (and yes, hanzo players do spam even at GM because people have to come through chokes). I always love watching a GM hanzo that has to look at the kill feed to see who they killed.
He is not nerfed into the ground but now relies more heavily on actual aim and will get less random kills. Any hero he crits that was not full health will still die as they did before. It’s only 10HP. And the fact he might have to follow-up with a body shot is a good thing.
There are other heroes a lot worse off from this patch than Hanzo and they didn’t get an unnecessary buff.
What would be good for the game is if his pick-rate drops. Very tiring seeing Hanzo+Ana in more than 50% of my games for as long as I have played.
Removing the OHK just means you have to have the skill to either:
Either way, it means you have to get better at picking who to shoot at.
What’s funny about them?
As someone who’s been designing games for a long time (i even gave university talks on the topic) i’m interesting to hear how he could improve.
Hanzo mains are better than everyone who complained about ohko, the reason they are frustrated is not that he is weak, no he won’t be , he will still be reking as usual and those who complained about ohko are more likely to cry even more with him shooting real logs now.
The issue is they have ruined yet another hero identity and fantasy.
Lol, that was the short version.
This is very obviously false. Only playing one hero doesnt mean you’re better than all people who dont like OHKs.
If you’re nothing without OHKs, you shouldnt have them.
He should have never been able to be all of these things at once.
