Guide to being "toxic" without getting suspended

ngl I get toxic in game every now and then and haven’t been suspended once and I would like to share some tips on why that might be the case since many people seem to have gotten banned for it.

First of all, control your self.
You get suspended when you get too many reports, not when you get toxic. That means you have a threshold that you need to stay below. Control yourself and don’t go off on everyone who underperforms, do that and you will rack up reports in no time and get suspended. Sometimes, people play well, they just got outplayed by people playing even better.

Unleash your salt on only the absolute dingleberries so other teammates are more likely to resonate with your feeling and don’t contribute to reporting you. In fact, they actually secretly thank you for helping them express their frustration through you. So everyone, you should call out that manure on the team if no one else does due to the fear of getting reported. You’d be doing your teammates a favor. Take one for the team, so to speak.

Second, control your self.
Generally speaking, you should wait until near the end of the match. Sometimes people take time to warm up. I’ve had tank/dps who went something like 0-5 in one round and ended up 25-10. Control your urge to flame them when they don’t do well for the first few mins of the game. But also, toxicity doesn’t make anyone play better. This isn’t some slave you can abuse into producing more labor value. If they’re truly bad, they’re gonna bad all game so there is no point in being toxic during the game, except of course, to let off steam. Remember, that’s the main purpose of being toxic, to let off steam, to bait that dung into defending himself so you call him bad even harder, and let off even more steam in the same session.

Third, control your self.
Don’t make -ism based insults. I know for some it’s tempting, but you gotta control yourself because you want longevity. It’s better to release your anger consistently in small amounts rather than going nuclear but for one time only. Too many people go ape-poop over identity based insult…such is the environment Overwatch. And also -ism insults are just kind of bad. You want them to know they are Hestu’s Gift at the game, not at being themselves. Just use uni-sex/uni-race insults, you’d still release a good amount of steam.

Last but not least, learn new/other methods of insult
The safest type of toxicity is to be subtle in your insults. Look to the anti-toxicity, force-of-good people on the forum. They are actually also toxic but are just subtle about it. They talk with a healthy dose of passive-aggessiveness and emojis. Learn from them.

The downside is this doesn’t release a lot of steam. That’s why many of these pseudo do-gooders talk like there’s a stick up theirs. So you do still need to open up the valve a little more and be aggressively toxic every now and then.

That’s it for now. Happy toxic-ing and happy gaming!

I’m not sure if there is a whitelist for whales (yeah i drop cheese on this pos game. I like the skins.) or the bot that picks up the reports is not all that sophisticated, but I have been on a toxic tyrade for literal months. In every match I go off on someone; isms and all.
(Not because I’m an actual wrinkly-starfish, I am an anthropologist working on a project about gaming culture and need populations of people to study without them knowing they’re being studied.)
I get creative with the spelling and word spacing and never use VC. So, there is the possibility that the bot that picks up the reports and looks for words on its list to flag for bannable offenses, can’t find anything to flag. For example, I use phonetic spelling to make sure the words chosen still come across the way they should sound and I rely on the amazing parts of the brain that can pick out something to understand even in the biggest letter-messes.
(see, evn ifyuo splelwrodsworng adnpushtehm tgoether, yuorbarin will stillpcik outsoemhtnig to udnretsnad. pterty cool, rhigt?)

I am pretty sure I have been reported at least once in every match I have been in over the past seven months. I have gone to great lengths to do so. This raises an interesting concern; if in fact the entire report system is automated and all you have to do to fool the bot is use phonetic spelling and bad grammar, what was the F’n point?

Or you could just go punch a pillow or squeeze a stress ball if the game actually triggers you hard enough to try start fights.

I stopped using profanity in text chat and I haven’t been suspended since.

I call people whatever I want in voice chat. F-slur, whatever. The “voice recording” stuff is complete BS.

The system is 100% based on number of reports that triggers an AI to look for “bad words” in your text chat history. If you have none you don’t get a comms ban.

Their “automated system” is completely abuseable.

You can be extremely toxic in one game. Hurling insults at people, calling them the n word and the most horrible stuff.

If you don’t say anything for the next 30 or so games you’re good to go again.

Report systems that are stackbased make me laugh.

This is a ridiculous overexaggeration.

First of all I’ve pretty much confirmed the “Griefing” reports just go in the trash. I’ve been mass reported 10 games in a row playing Ball and refusing to swap and nothing happened. Too many players abused this report category as a vent button for “this player did something I don’t like” that Blizz had to make it useless to cut down on the number of support tickets they get.

You can say whatever you want in voice. Just don’t type anything bad in the text chat.

I believe you are correct. The people that religiously report based on hero choice or “I do not like how this person played” CLEARLY do not have their reports counted or I would have gotten smoked long ago.

instruction unclear, suspended for a month

It isn’t. I have tested this myself and I was never banned. It works just like the system in WoW. With the difference being you have a greater chance being banned in WoW due to more players.

Nah, you can for 1 game. Just don’t do it again for the next 30.

My point is, just don’t type at all. You can call people whatever you want in voice, every single game. If you don’t type profanity or toxicity you cannot be banned. You can scream f-slur, n-word over the mic every game if you want, if you don’t get baited into typing any textual evidence nothing will happen.

Blizz report system counts on the fact that players who tend to be toxic, will use all available mediums. Someone calling their teammates slurs will tend to do the same to the enemy team in the allchat, or continue the abuse in the allchat to make it more of a public spectacle. If you don’t fall for the text chat bait you cannot be banned.

FYI I get people banned every single time I play for typing swears in chat. I report every swear I see even if it’s innocuous because I know it will trigger a ban. I get 1-2 thanks for reporting messages every day.

I often kindly suggest to underperformers that they should go to bed early tonight

That or if a bad player is flaming teamates, i kindly suggest that they leave the game to find better teamates cause obviously were below their skill level

I write passive aggressive thank you messages in the chat directed at the short bus riders who are losing us the game all the time. Also, teabag my own teammates works too, and it goes harder when on support and you couldve saved them, but you didnt just so that you can teabag. And lastly, your character might have toxic lines, like Kiriko has one where she says “Make like Odysseus and get lost”, so I get in front of the awful teammate and I spam the voiceline.

You got to do what you got to do to get some toxicity across.

Blizzard has not properly addressed the issue regarding TOXIC.
I recently received a warning for being TOXIC when I noted that two players with the same name who were supposed to be in a PT were playing without participating in a battle.
In reality, it is just a mechanical process based on the number of reports.
It is a vulnerable system that can bring down any player by malicious players conspiring to report them.

Based on actual screenshots of AI game masters responding tickets that I saw online, some “bad words” include “dangit”, “frick”, “lol” (by itself), “?” and even smiley faces (also by themselves). I don’t know who trained their AI nor on what, but… Somewhere along the line, they must have messed up.

Anyone who is petty enough to send false reports in the middle of a match will ironically be quicker to do it while the match is on-going, and unlike in menus they will be able to tick multiple boxes without even being asked for details. You can literally tick all of the boxes to report that one enemy Widow while moving out of spawn and it will be faster than the traditional menu method that limits your report for only one reason.

My feeling isn’t that they forgot to put a “i don’t like them” filter on the reports blatantly based on hero choice, it’s that all of these individual angry “revenge reports” are each being sent for cheating, bad text chat, bad voice chat, afk and gameplay sabotage all at once, and the AI is going to immediately look at potential bad words that include “dangit” of all things one top of all the other reasons.

there is zero drawback to not report every single person who talks every single game, so you’d probably end up reported either way. better not to write stuff especially if it can be interpreted as an offense in any way

General rule of thumb – “If you have nothing nice to say, do not say it.” Just yell out any frustrations privately without anyone in game hearing it. This will protect your account from any negative language suspensions or bans.
