Got suspended because of two tricking

i was playing a game this friday, i lose the game, my team reports me because they disagree with what i picked, i get suspended for 24 hours. I send a ticket to support, and they answer me that “The reason behind it is just that this game is based on a team play, so you pick a hero that best adapts to the needs of your team and with a strategy in mind and teamplay, you aim to win a match.” pretty piss poor response, if i want to play x hero, i should be able to do so, as long as im not throwing or trying to actively sabotage the game, i should be able to play whatever i want. I had just come back to the game, i wanted to learn how to play step by step, i didnt want to stagnate myself in learning 8 different heroes each with a different playstyle, i wanted to improve as fast as possible and therefore i decided to stick with 1 hero, i had a 57% win rate and climbed pretty quickly out of bronze, almost got plat.

I dont know if anybody is gonna read this, but this is the last time im buying anything blizzard related. Thank you very much.

Sometimes playing whatever you want IS actively sabotaging the game.

they only report niche heroes though

what do you main? if its torb or bastion it makes sense because they’re not exactly a “liked” hero by the majority even if you try to convince them with your winrates

It’s a team game. If you’re not willing to play as a team then don’t hesitate to leave.

The devs also have said many times you can play whatever you want aslong as your doing actively going after the win.

I think it really depends on the hero you are playing and what you’re team is trying to do. Did they decide they want to play private ship, they got all the shields and healing, just need a bastion. And you turn around and pick tracer or something. Which would just never work with that comp. And you force your entire to flex around your pick instead.

It puts a smile on my face everytime I read one of these one trick bans. Good job overwatch community!

Blizzard made it clear one tricking is 100% allowed, regarldess of how players personally feel about it.

But customer support, for some reason, still isn’t updated on their stance. So you will get no help from customer support.

Until Blizzard either gets rid of automated suspensions or until customer support gets updated on the dev teams own stance the best you can do is just ‘flex’ play

customer support has no stance, they are simply there to send out automated messages to tell people “our system is flawless and the ban will stay”

I meant customer support isn’t updated on the overwatch team’s stance on one tricks.

Someone like Jeff will say one tricking is allowed, then customer service will tell you something completely contradicting to what Jeff himself said.

Then a different customer service employee will unban you, while a different one will say something that contradicts the last 3 customer service employees you talked to.

It’s all a big mess. It feels like customer service doesn’t even have a offical stance given to them to give players, it feels like they just go off of what the personal individual employee feels the rule should be rather than what the Overwatch team has said.

I like how people can sit back and say other people are selfish and deserve a ban because they’re not playing who they want them to play

interesting to see the CS straight up say you picked the wrong hero. usually they are more vague.

“it is a team game” “picking the wrong hero is sabotage”

okay, but, picking the correct hero for the correct situation is a skill. a skill that is integral to the design of Overwatch. if the design has shifted to “you need x hero in y situation” then the game should lock out “bad picks”. Otherwise I have no idea when I should or should not listen to “my team”.

Blizzard really just needs to make reporting take 1 or 2 steps more to do.
Right now it’s just a giant “SMACK ME IF YOU FEEL ANGRY TO FEEL SLIGHTLY BETTER” button.
Making people put slight effort into reporting will take out a lot of these “rage-reports”, while actual AFK/Throwers and cheaters are worth taking that extra step for.

“If you’re only gonna play one or two heroes, you’re gonna have a hard time sometimes because your hero might not be relevant in all gameplay situations all the time and this isn’t our goal. Our goal is to have heroes all have a place in the game but not necessarily be played wholly and solely all the time by themselves. I believe that super highly skilled players can pull off something like that occasionally but please be careful. You might be hurting the experience for yourself and you might be risking the experience for your teammates as well.”

But either way, as an FYI, customer support is not going to do anything. You can give them photographic evidence of how you are not in the wrong on something you got accused for and they will still say “… well… well we didn’t make this system so it doesn’t count…”

For real though. You can send them evidence of someone actually saying the most disrespectful and most racist terminology and if you get reported and banned for calling them out on it by using normal swear words, they’ll just say “with the amount of evidence we have, our stance on the situation will remain intact.”

Blizzard Devs : You cannot be banned for a hero choice, you can play any character you choose as long as you are trying to win

Blizzard Support : You got banned for playing the hero you wanted.

guys, my main problem with this suspension is that it was completely subjective, i main tracer on attack soldier on defence, i was trying to thoroughly improve with those characters, if the game was going very badly i tried to shake it up, but most of the time i didnt because i dont really know the limit of my heroes so theres no way for me to know yet wether i was getting stomped because of the enemy team was playing better, or because i was playing badly. Worst part is that most of the people that reported me are deluded players who think that they deserve better rank and that teammates like me are holding them back, own up to your mistakes and get better, dont blame the other guy and witchhunt him because you couldnt carry harder.

I think you’re lying. There’s more to this story you must gotten into an argument with them and then you made it an “abusive chat” or you got upset and sat in spawn or something. I one tricked sombra and that never happened to me.
