The ban period is set for 14 days. I can still play normally, but I just can’t chat with other players in the match. Honestly, it’s not a big deal. After the ban is lifted, I’ll probably play quietly and avoid typing anything unnecessary .
You might as well just disable all voice and text chat and never speak again because next time it won’t be just a silence and it will eventually work its way to perma-ban.
Pointless report abuse is Overwatch’s form of bants. You can’t use chat for banter, but you can report literally everyone using chat and get 5 thank yous every day from Blizzard.
When I see words like “Ez, losers, noobs, diff,” I report them because they feel extremely toxic to me. As for actions, I immediately report people who do t-bagging, and I’m sure that there have been players banned for it.
Reporting toxic speech and actions is as natural as it gets.
Edit : But I think I wouldn’t report a sentence like “handsome diff,” it just sounds like humor to me.
It would be spam in this context if the time between messages were short. This makes absolutely no sense, really. The ban was likely related to the message itself rather than the frequency it was sent.
I was suspended for defending myself against a few incel teenage males in this one game, they were harassing me for NOT giving them the time of day regardless of their advances and lewd comments (this all started after joining vc) . I think blizzard really needs to analyze their stance on sexual harassment. I don’t think they’ve learned.
The report system is automated and is basically just a numbers game. In this case it sounds like its one report from you vs several from them, it stacked up and you got the short straw. With systems like this, the best thing you can do is just report, mute and don’t engage with them.
I would love to get a system similar to CS:GO Overwatch, where actual people can review reported people, who are anonimized, and give their take on it. If one group of people just wanna report for the sake of reporting someone it wouldn’t lead to anything this way, and people that start stuff could be actioned quicker instead.
