They don’t need to tighten cause they’re the same levels as before…the game has always allowed for 1000 SR disparity in comp….and QP has always had no restrictions as far as grouping goes. A bronze player can technically play against a top 500 there depending on who people choose to group with…crossplay allowance further makes things more difficult…
I don’t know what the numbers are like now relative to OW1…what I do know is that tightening restrictions means higher queue times….and I also know that the most disingenuous phrase ever uttered in OW is “I’d be willing to wait”….high queues are a death sentence for the game…they are a MAJOR (if not main) reason why OW1 no longer exists….cause as it turns out, people aren’t actually willing to wait
But more importantly, tighter restrictions isn’t the panacea people think it is either……match quality is dependent on a LOT of things…SR being only one of them….and even with less SR variance, everybody is is going to be on here complaining that the matchmaking sucks….cause that’s what people do….and it’s been the case for 20+ years of online gaming
