Give me at least 4 reasons why Sombra shouldn't be buffed/reworked

Says the person who doesn’t play Sombra.

If you knew anything about her, I shouldn’t even have to explain how your suggestion is terrible at best.

She won’t necessarily need a damage boost if the ability is something effective at getting a flank kill…imagine sombra actually being super effective against widow… imagine instead of hack something like an activated ability that gave her incendiary bullets that added a stacking fire dot debuff so she could flank a hero and have a high chance at straight up killing it… no more hack and a lot more dive capability especially when she could use that debuff to apple to a team more readily before your team dives.

Edit: pretty open minded if I’m here trying to make a hero I don’t like better for the people that like her whether or not my suggestion is perfect in YOUR eyes or not.

You didn’t offer a buff suggestion, you just offered a nerf suggestion without any reasons for it.

FYI I did offer a buff suggestion and it went ignored as what is normal on these forums except for one person who said anything about it.

Some people say that, I’m not one of those people. Sombra can rickroll widow and hanzo, if you understand snipers.

I’ve been trying for a week to change people’s minds but people are just too close minded when it comes to her. Not even gonna try right now, maybe later.

Then they call us close minded when I offered to give up Stealth and EMP

And still that wasn’t good enough to support a damage buff and sombra keeping single target hack ability

Basically if it’s not “my way” it’s the “no way” mentality that breaks the game.

Thing is.
Emp health pack bot: Unfun but useful
Flanker 5 sec invis: Super fun not the most useful
Scout: Unfun and not very useful

1 - people enjoy her playstyle as it is fun and unique 2 - she serves an over purpose in the balance of the game 3 - shouldn’t be buffed? Struggling with this one 4 - people will miss how she is at the moment

Hence all the nerf power creep hero threads since 2-2-2 was released.

These are coming instead from a “Why she needs a rework” perspective so i… do the opposite xD

  • Shes supposed to be an assassin

Yet shes shouting when her Trans gets destroyed and when she leaves stealth and has the loudest weapon possible. Maybe she could have throwing or stabbing knives as secondary weapons.

  • Hacking is too luck based

It would be better as a skill shot like Anas Sleep Dart. Sombra could shoot a magnetic bullet and disrupt the enemy abilities with it.

  • Too big reliance on teammates

Its a curse of being an assassin/disruptor hero so theres really nothing to do with that. Maybe she could have a new passive since theres too much wallhack abilities ingame.

  • Everything can be hacked, and but not everyone

Sombra could even have more supportive abilities on hack besides on healthpacks like cleansing stuns and debuffs on teammates or stop moving platforms.

Again a bug that was dismissed as an intended mechanic, it was never an intended mechanic and wasn’t always an issue.

Doesn’t mean it’s valid reasoning but hey.

She is strong in the OWL and scrims but bad on the ladder.
So instead of reworking her to not be an EMP bot they nerfed her.

I actually agree with the invis and trans changes. Making them easier to use did make Sombra more approachable where before she was utterly unapproachable. The problem is that they weren’t enough.

Her problem as I see it is that her ability to deal damage is too restricted because of how stealth-focused the rest of her abilities are. Every other DPS hero has at least one additional ability that allows them to deal damage in some way. A burst ability that lets them do their job.

Sombra totally lacks that. She has zero burst potential and is totally reliant on the sustained output of a machine pistol with terrible range and awful spread to take advantage of her excellent positioning tools.

She’s basically a support with a DPS’s M1, and that makes her extremely difficult to use.

If I had to suggest a change to her kit that wasn’t just “make her M1 better” (since the devs have talked about how that could be a problem), I would give her a special melee ability when she uses a melee attack to break stealth. Call/animate it as another cybernetic implant.

All it would do is slow her target’s movement speed by 30% for 2.5 seconds in addition to the 30 melee damage, with a 12 second cooldown.

Let’s have a friendly and adult debate as to why these bullet points are not as strong as one makes it out to be.

Yes, this is true. It is a pain to get that particular Sombra to low health, just to have her translocate away.

Majority of the heroes in the game have some form of recovery mobility/ get out of Jail Free Card. I am not saying that all function are the same, however, the concept is still there.

Meaning the frustration of getting your target low to have them recovery or get away with his or her get out of jail card, so one can not simply used that argument to support that form of claim.

Nearly majority of Sombra’s Mains was against this change, and is willing to revert this change, as it did nothing nor add to her gameplay other then spawn-killing.


Yes theoretically it is the best thing for an assassin/ flanker, however in practice, she does not live up to those categories. Flanker- yes, but assassin- no.

This is true, however the draw back to this is that you are reducing the total overall ultimate charge from your supports. Hacking health packs is essential good for denying healing to the enemy flankers, which is strong yes, but not enough to prevent her to not receive a buff.

Reverting invis and trans and buffing invis to 6-8 seconds would be heaven, or just give her 6m/s movement like other flankers
