The other day someone was talking about the Juno short, and it made me realize I haven’t watched an OW short since Kiriko’s. So I asked myself why.
It’s because when OW2 launched, I still believed in it. And once OW2 launched, it absolutely killed my enthusiasm for the game, its world and its heroes. I felt so betrayed and cheated by not just the state of Overwatch 2 and its egregious excuse for matchmaking, but the fact that Blizzard took Overwatch 1 away, replaced it with a significantly inferior product, and tried to tell us it’s an improvement.
It’s not just Overwatch, either. Blizzard Entertainment spent most of the last decade utterly destroying its own good name, and reputation.
It was a legendary company, once.
Shame.

Unfortunately there will always be negative content creators, whether their intentions are good or not, idk. But those are easy platforms to avoid if you just want to play the game. Not sure what content you enjoy, but Emongg and ML7 are always pretty positive and there are a few others out there as well.
Some people hold out hope that the game is going to get better for them. You can have hopes for a game and dislike it at the same time.
For some of us, the game isn’t what it used to be - the game that we LOVED. The game that we were excited to play and having so much fun that we didn’t want to stop playing. Blizzard took that game away from us and we want it back. It’s natural.
We want to play, but in its current state OW is not fun. It’s highly frustrating and no game should leave you frustrated like that. I very rarely play anymore. I checked in for one match this season to check out Junkrat and logged right back out.
I’ll play other games, but I also have hopes that Blizzard will make some changes to this game to bring it back to OW1 state when people (who quit) were still having fun. I hope Marvel Rivals is good enough that Blizzard will have to do just that.
Hope that gives you some insight.
so don’t come here or any place that has to do with this game… ''will anyone think of the POOR DEVS!!!", shut it, they butchtered this game to cash out. lies for years about pve, destroyed the format with removing a tank, added dumb passives the game didnt need, dumb balance every single patch that gets worse with time, trash reworks that are overtuned, changing the identity of heroes that didnt need to be change to just homogenize the game, designing crappy modes one after another, push then flash then clash. destroyed the social aspects of the game, allow cheaters to go unchecked for months(yea yea waves blah blah all while they ruin ppls games all that time), the matchmaking gets worse and worse were every game is a stomp either way which makes all these things even worse. changing HP values for no reason at all. i could go on and on but really the mods here are going to just delete my post since they have no spine. ALL of this is on the devs, they dont get a pass, they aren’t your friends, you dont owe them anything. they ruined a good game not just the suits. delete my post and time me out all you want, i know the truth and so do others. you will see when this game finally dies, f2p/addicts/cheaters/smurfs and content creators that have built their community around this game is the only thing keeping it afloat in the end. This game used to be so good some of you forget that… you were so starved for anything Overwatch related for YEARS, they feed you slop and you eat it up like rabid dogs, that was intentional too i bet.

Problem is you dig the hole and just keep on doing it instead just stopping and fixing it. Endure the consequences in digging said hole

They need to make more frequent balance changes to try things out I think…
IMO the hatred comes mostly because of the disconnect between the DEV and the game that they supposedly balance… as reflected by their developer commentary…
They just gotta do better. Too many heroes who have been left on the farm for too long. Hog before, and now Hanzo.

I should shatter these developers and shoulder check them off the map because this game sucks so much. The only thing I hate more than Overwatch is myself. I also despise that the spawn room in Busan has a Blizzard fighting game that does not exist because they cannot figure out how to code something so simple. That’s the problem with society. This game needs to die so that we can get that anime fighter. Also nerf Reinhardt because how the hell is he powerful enough to shatter an developer team?
Honestly? Just ignore it. Or make fun of it, whatever floats your boat that involves not taking it seriously.
No thread is gonna change it so that’s pretty much the only thing you can do.
Well, it is equally infuriating to see a game like Dead Lock, that hasn’t even launched yet, with everything Blizzard has been stalling on for years. Detailed Biographies for every character, a classic MOBA tower siege game-mode, Detailed statistics for the abilities and tools of each hero in-game, and genuine care for individual heroes that isn’t just pandering promotional material.
To be fair, I don’t believe the devs have done anything note worthy of praise. All they’ve done is backtrack bad decisions, which to me, is just going from negative to 0. I can’t think of a single good thing that has come from OW2 that wasn’t fixing bad mistakes or something that’s been stalled on for years.

If we are being completely honest, for as great as Overwatch can be and as many great things it can offer, the completely awful, nonsensical, no explanation, no communication decisions overshadow all that.
Is it good that we don’t have heroes in the BP anymore? Yes, but it’s “ANYMORE”. We had to wait a year and a half for it to happen.
There’s only a lot of negativity because the game deserves a lot of negativity, unfortunately. All the great things it includes and offers are specs when compared to all the bad.
The devs are people too, but are people that are choosing to almost sabotage their own work. Which affects the experience of the players, so the players, rightfully, speak out.
You can not tell me that anyone in their right mind would buff Sombra after last Season. Yet somehow they just so happen to have the people that decide the balancing, come to that decision.
We got a little hotfix patch to bring Tracer’s damage down to 5.5. Great.
Why were no nerfs to Sombra inlcuded? Is there a limit to how many changes you can make in a hotfix patch? Why not put another one out to nerf Sombra? Is there a limit to how many hotfix patches they can do? Why do we keep shoving Mercy pocket down everyone’s throat instead of making the hero feel more engaging and rewarding to both play and play against?

The thing is ever since Jeff Kaplan left, none of the constructive criticism reaches the team anyways.
So there’s no point either way.

We are way past the point where constructive criticism actually did anything.
Content is getting lazier and greedier with every patch. You may see it as nitpicking but all of it stacks together over time.

Im sirry lumin! I need to be more positive!
“We are going to nerf mobility heroes”.
leaves out tracer and genji
Are they even trying at this point.
Understatement of the decade. This game has some enormous problems. But not the ones usually talked about. The main issue is that the same people making decisions in the same way will lead to the same issues.
Very little if anything has changed except that now they’re desperate as the playerbase dwindles.
There’s not much positive happening to the game ever since they abandoned it for the lie that was OW2, and it began an incredibly negative direction when it actually became OW2; what do you expect?
Some things people complain about are wild, though…like calling the devs all manner of names because Reaper got the mythic - complain with given reason, (them changing/breaking their own internal rules) but don’t get personal because of it.
Sure, some people argue against things in bad faith, but the vast majority do so because they know what the game has been and therefore still can be.
Yep. This does mean people need to stop telling people to just accept the way things are, however. Frankly, the leadership brought a lot of negativity on themselves by refusing to interact with conversations for the majority of OW2. Still don’t deserve personal attacks.
Devs that say outrageous things and get personal themselves, however, especially when what they’re saying is a lie, need to be called out though (we all know which dev I’m talking about, I hope)

So keep playing the game. I never said you had to stop playing the game - I said stop going to those sites.
You don’t need to interact on those sites to play the game.
So then leave those websites.
You don’t like them, so by your own post, you should leave.
I don’t go on Reddit, Twitter, Twitch or Youtube for Overwatch content & I still play the game just fine.
For non addicts, this is how hating something works.
