I started to play the game once the update was done and I keep getting dc from the server each and every match. I have tried unplugging everything and nothing us seeming to work. What else can I do. PLO help anybody.
Lets investigate the connection route next. Try posting the results of a WinMTR test here and we can tell you where a disconnection is happening and how to solve it.
WinMTR instructions:
- Download WinMTR from http://winmtr.net/download-winmtr/ (Console players need a Windows Desktop Computer connected to the same network as their console to do this.)
- Unzip the WinMTR.zip file to the Desktop.
- Open the WinMTR folder and select the 32 or 64 bit version. Choose whichever one corresponds to your version of Windows.
- Run the WinMTR.exe
- Type the IP address you want to trace in the “Host” field. To get the correct IP you will actually need to open up the game and go Practice Vs AI or Quick Play and if you are on PC hit Ctrl+Shift+N and it will bring up the ingame network diagnostic graph, or go to Video > Options > Display Network Performance Graph if you are on any platform including Console. In the top left corner is the IP address you want to run WinMTR to.

note When looking at the IP it will show up ingame as something like 12.34.56.78:12345. You will want to leave the last 5 digits and the colon at the end off and the IP you want to use is just the 12.34.56.78 - Once you notice the connection issue while playing, play for about 6 more minutes, minimize the game and click on “Stop”.
- Click on “Copy text to clipboard”, then return to this forum thread.
- Type two sets of four squiggly lines and then paste the contents of the WinMTR test between:
~~~~ Paste WinMTR Test Results Here ~~~~
If in the event you can’t even connect to Overwatch and get into any game mode at all, please use one of the following IP addresses based on your geographical region:
- US West - 24.105.30.129
- US Central - 24.105.62.129
- Brazil - 54.207.107.12
- Europe - 185.60.114.159
- Europe - 185.60.112.157
- Korea - 211.234.110.1
- Taiwan - 203.66.81.98
will you please quit posting this trash? We’re not all coincidentally having routing issues, this is clearly a technical fault on blizzards end.
Disconnections have always been the number one technical issue of any gamer for any online video game. If there was a server related issue, Blizzard would put out notices immediately via Twiiter, the Support Site, and the BattleNet App Launcher. Not to mention dozens of posts would be flooding in a matter of seconds. Right now, I only see the usual one or two posts per hour.
WinMTR, traceroute, and pathping tests prove where each connection problems are for each user, where it be the end user (somewhat common), the end user’s ISP (very common), the internet backbone hubs (very common), Blizzard’s network providers (rare), or the servers (extremely rare though not impossible). So far today, I myself have seen about 4 test results posted here on the forums, 3 of which were ISP related, 1 of which was end user related. So as you can see, testing the connection route is the quickest and most accurate way to pinpoint problems wirh disconnections. Finger pointing and blaming is not.
I’m not the only person having this problem cuz some of my friends r having the same issue. Before the update, the game was working great and im able to play other games and watch other things on all other devices in my household.
Hi there,
Tech support rep here, I would love to help out each and every person who has a connection issue to prevent these problems. Overwatch has a large user base as such, even if you have never had a problem, many others will. This does not mean that when you do have a problem, just because others do, it is a server problem.
I would like to try and gather information here to help find where the problem is, before I do, I would like to break down how we look at connection problems. We have on many times found problems on our end with community help.
When it comes to a connection issues, there is always a problem in one of three locations.
-
The server - When we see the report it is tracked, as well, we have many other data gathering tools for the health of the server.
-
The ISP- Which for simplicity sake in this explanation is a combination of the nodes used for upstream and downstream information on the internet. We do not have much influence here, as such it tends to be a pain point when the problem is ISP related.
-
From the users end - This is an area we can try and provide advice for. We try to give troubleshooting advice and direct to things that could cause problems. We can only help as much as a user is willing to let us.
With that said, I would like to try and get a bit of information on this.
-
When in a match to you lose connection?
-
Could you get us a WinMTR and Looking glass.
It will help us see the connection from us to you and from you to us. This can help us find where this is happening. If not on the connection, we can try other steps from there.
If you would prefer not to post and work with us on the forums, then please make a support ticket. We want to help, there is no reason why we would want to leave a problem unfixed.
I have been having the same issue since the patch, I was playing OW before just fine, then updated OW, entered the game and as I tried to queue up for a game I got dc’d from the game server even if I was just sitting in menus, when I restarted the game and tried to queue again I dc’d again? It happened to me like 5 times in the span of 2 days which is definitely not normal for me and I don’t think its my internet since my internet connection during the DC seemed just fine
Thats the problem in having. I have tried so many things and now at a loss
