You’re not supposed to address the moderators like you’re doing, by the way.
Nope not once. Which makes the whole report system a huge pile of dung. If it did penalize false reporters that would make the game 100% better. Reports would actually mean something.
It could have been that they were a toxic streamer and karma finally caught up with them. I’ve sent millions of reports and only penalty I get are from my own comments.
They don’t. Feel free to make an alt account and spam report every single person in the lobby every game. Nothing will happen, yet you’d be raising everyone’s threshold closer to get actioned.
I’m pretty sure xqc was suspended for false reporting somebody on stream back in the day.
not at all
It has happened many time, actually, with one that is famous and well documented

actually, with one that is famous and well documented
It’s also the only time it has happened.
I keep seeing baseless claims that it has never happened that players get actioned for false reporting
and yet, we know with certainty that it has happened
we also know it is against the written rules
There’s evidence that it has happened, and no evidence whatsoever that it hasnt happened
I don’t think that ever happened, because if you can argue in any way that you felt offended, your report is justified, at least in their book.
That is why they tend not to pursue such cases at all.

keep seeing baseless claims that it has never happened that players get actioned for false reporting
And I see you making the baseless claim that I said it never happens.
It has happened.
Only under the special circumstances of Blizzard monitoring streamers who have done it.

we also know it is against the written rules
We know XIMs are against the rules too.
We also know that those rules against XIMs are not enforced in the slightest.
Blizzard is sloppy and inadequate when it comes to rule enforcement.
Well, as long as you aren’t xqc and you don’t travel back in time to play overwatch 1, seems like the chances of actually getting blasted for false reports are excessively low. I’d take a guess the suspension that xqc received was also applied manually by one of the community managers because it was on stream. There was also some reddit thread going on at the time that had some controversy, probably about whatever the false report was.
I’d ask if there was anything from OW2, but based on my previous interactions in this thread, I know I won’t get anything useful from the people I’d be asking.
Yea there is no way they enforce this. My “friend” has been spam reporting people anytime he lost a game. The only punishments that have happened is the people he reported.
