Can you watch this gameplay and tell me what I need to improve on?

I know it’s horrendous, it’s 6:05 in the morning and I haven’t slept. I just wanna get better at this hero I barely play.

you seem uncomfortable with his kit and your aim is all over the place these are things that come with time
about your positioning stayin in the front as genji is a bad idea especially when they have a cree so either flank or go for low targets to confirm kills
your blades are also kind of messy try not to dash up when blading if you dont have any supports to nano or dmg boost you engaging from different angles helps alot and dashing up just tells them to use all their cooldowns on u
try to prioritize targets healers>dps>tanks so blading a hog isnt recommended
also this blade training should do the job for your messy aim J90ZF
hope this helps
what sr where you during that game?
oh that was quick play. And I usually don’t play genji in comp (cause I dont wanna throw). But my sr on this account rn is 3040.
kk ill go over it as soon as i can
also never be afraid of playing a certain hero in comp. the best way to learnhim is to play him in comp, not qp.
I’m queuein up for comp rn and ima play genji so if you wanna wait and i’ll give you an actual comp game vod.
sure!
20 charachters
overall it’s looks like you know how to play him at a basic level very well.
here are some things i’d advise you to work on:
I also want you to practice some of Genji’s combos, I see you know the basic of secondary fire + dash which is good and all but sometimes you’d be better off doing some thing else like dashing and than using secondary fire on the enemy to maximize damage.
a. the enemy is low hp and you can finish them off and get the resat and get away
b. if you need to pressure an enemy and you know you can win and get away
c. use it to get away or mobility in general (only if you can’t get there with wall climb and double jump)
and apart from that we have target priority which as i can see you don’t have any problem with that.
Okay thanks for the tips
I’ll come back at some point with a better VOD of (hopefully) improvements
ok. Before getting to other stuff and general tips of playing genji, I got to point out 2 issues with your play.
1- your sensitivity is a bit low for the movements you’re trying to pull off. You want to do 180 dash backs, but only make it to 90 degrees. Either use higher sens, or adjust accordingly because this results in a lot of waste of dash.
2- you’re too reckless. You go front lining. You dash into them without a backup plan. The general rule of genji play is simple. Dash is used to either finish a target, or to run away. You don’t use it to deal 50 damage to full hp targets and then being stuck there with no means of escape.
Ok. now that these 2 are dealt with, let’s get to things you can improve.
practice your combo. Genji can instantly deal 80 damage to a target with a good dash and a melee followup. so basically, deal enough shuriken damage and then dashing in means instakill. So practice practice and practice. Your dashing was all over the place. you want to preferably be behind the enemy once dash is over and you instantly rotating and hitting them.
Then there’s the matter of your blade. Kind of all over the place. But that again is because of your dashing. You’ll get used to it eventually.
other than that, my best advice is to just watch pro genji players and how they play. That can help you with improving.
I just found a great workshop mode that can help you practice Genji
