I don’t think that deflect is the reason that he is strong in low ranks either, people not having a good aim in lower ranks is why he is good, if it is already hard enough to aim at a normal target, adding the vertical space as well makes it a lot harder to deal with, but that is the reason why Pharah is relatively good at lower ranks, but to be real, Genji isn’t even that good at lower ranks, like, being the 7th DPS hero for a “noobstomper” is kinda bad, and that is with him being a very popular hero as well, he is just a mid pick in lower ranks, only in mid ranks does he become a better pick, 3rd dps in gold and 2nd in both plat and diamond, but don’t let those numbers fool you into thinking he is even close to the best dps there, Mccree straight up has double the amount of pickrate that Genji has there, so when trying to find his problem in lower ranks you are just wasting time, you should find his problem in mid ranks and make sure it is in check.
And this problem may actually be deflect, and then again I say, reverting it completely is the wrong move, it should stay cancelable but be more fair.
This makes it more fair for the enemy without removing the liberty of canceling deflect.
As they say “Modern problems require modern solutions”, just reverting everything stops working well at some point, that point being the quality of life in my opinion.
