Giving Genji the option of a longer dash would increase his survivability and ability to capitalize when he needs to.
In a pug environment Genji has to engage certain targets which means he has to stand certain places which means his team needs to engage certain targets that Genji can reach, but in a pug that doesn’t happen making Genji unreliable. That is why he needs the range on swift strike so he can reach whatever targets the team decides to engage.
Why would you give him more mobility for 0 drawbacks?
I mean i agree that his kit is mostly centered around his ult, though the issue isn’t lacking mobility.
He could take a 1-2 second increased cooldown if he long dashes that would be okay.
Hmm, it would certainly make this a bit more balanced.
Though even so i don’t think it’s the right solution.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like i know what’s actually right.
Though it doesn’t feel as if the issue is related to his mobility, so i think it’s better to tweak other values before changing mobility.
Sure, but then don’t reset dash for assists.
Then he will have very little mobility.
At the moment, Moira has more mobility than Genji.
Are you joking? Genji has the best mobility in the game…
Base kit power creep is better than ult bot power creep at this point.
Plus genji metas are fresh and fun to watch.
Then again everything non-222 is already self-balancing, fun to play, insta queue, and I would bet great to watch if the soft-locked role-limits (max 3 of 1 role).
Sayin it for years.
No I am not, 6 seconds on fade, 250% speed boost.
Genji dash, 9 second cooldown
maybe, but Genji can still wall climb, and double jump. Moira can’t do those things.
That doesn’t make Genji any faster
You realise it is his escape mechanism? If you get a kill in the back of the enemy team before they turn to focus you and double jump and wall climb aren’t going to help just make you a much easier target.
Jesus, dude, seriously, stop.
sounds like the cry of defeat to me
I can’t go any lower to reach your level, so yeah. You’ve won.
Because almost all Genji players blame the kit, not their lack of skill. The only legit complaint is had at GM on this point. The rest just need to get better. I am not saying that to be mean, but its just a fact. Good Genji and Tracer players rise to the limits of the kit, the rest don’t but seem to think they must be good by virtue of just selecting that character, as if everyone else wanted to play those characters but couldn’t, but they are so good they selected them.
Its the equivalent of handing an F-1 racecar to a daily driver who then proceeds to spin out and wreck, who then blames the car for their lack of driving skills…
Well, I don’t really think that’s the case here.
The point I’m trying to make is that Genji isn’t underpowered, but rather not fun to play with.
His kit is centred too much around his ultimate, mostly charge and press q.
I think it’s good to do an experiment where his kit is more centred around his kit so he isn’t just an ult bot.
Though I do agree with what you said, it can be used in some scenarios.
I believe the character flat out needs a rework, but his fans burst blood vessels at any suggestion of such. What you are describing borders into that, and would definitely need power removed from his ultimate. I think before a serious change can be made, they need to rework his ultimate first then decide what to do with the rest of his kit.
Frankly, I don’t think it will happen. Due to his weeb popularity, even if he has a flawed kit, Blizz is terrified to touch him for fear of alienating large number of players from the dwindling playerbase. Thus he sits, with slight tweaks when he really needs a rework. Its possible in OW 2 with the “Grand Reset” on all the characters he might be quite different.
I personally couldn’t care less about any other hero on the roster.
That said, a rework would absolutely benefit him.
I agree with this. In Diamond+, Genji players are extremely talented and a Force to be reckoned with.
Anyone below 3000 SR that complains about Genjis kit has yet to have EVER touched the limits of his kit.
