Garbage dps make tanking unbearable

I tank about 90% of my games because that’s what I enjoy doing. What I don’t enjoy is mentally handicap dps running into 1v5 situations consistently, being bad at damage dealing and then blaming the tank.

rant over

You tank players made dps such a miserable role. Your kaiju level buffs did this. If an enemy tank jump a dps face, dps is %100 dead. They can’t even fight back without peeling. Dps have no self sustain like supports or have not thick skins like tanks. Tanks dealing anormus amount damage. Most of dps players can’t play the game like old days and can’t try aggresssive plays. They are scared of mobile fat flying enemy tanks who can delete them under 2 secs. Also good players with good aim getting punished by bigger hitboxes of bullets. The game is just like tank lobbies since season 9. It means deserved losses for you

I relate to this post. I think the issue is DPS just not fundamentally understanding their roles and jobs. OW2 really turned the game on its head. People just never adapted.

One of my dps was doing that tonight. His reasoning “I’m doing it to build ult”… that was his reasoning for going in 1v5 three times in a row.

id argue its because supports do nothing but shoot the tank in the back and the moment they stop the tank keels over.

dps are left with little to no resources in a majority of matches and cant take duels against tanks, support defensive cooldowns are on average stronger than dps cooldowns so taking duels with supports is often not worth it so theyre left to fend for themselves

dps can take over a lobby when they get more resources, how often do you see it?
the game is in a state where defensive play is stronger and making plays is harder to do than it is to punish it. the best way to play dps is just to sit back with your team and try not to make risky plays and a lot of dps players are unhappy with the role as a result.

This is how a tank vs a dps should be?

Most tank players are also punished for trying to be proactive now because most players in average lobbies just sit bot afk waiting for something to happen, then when the tank does try make a play there’s normally no follow up so theyre accused of feeding.

No theyre not, this is just the lie dps players tell themselves so they feel better about playing badly

dps have less agency than ever before id argue, they can do bad or good and still not be a big influence. trying to make proactive and aggressive plays on dps gets you killed more than any role and guess what role needs to do that to secure kills?
i think theres a reason why so many matches have a dps player doing considerably worse than anyone else in the lobby. it happens so frequently and i play at a mid masters to low gm level and its still no different

It’s often desperation or greed.

It’s either someone ulting late into the fight after it’s lost.

Or it’s someone running into see if they can get a early pick or ultcharge and get trapped.

Mostly it’s these two mistakes.

But there are also dumb ones who will do this wantedly😂

The most common mistakes I see is dps hold on to ults too long hoping for a big play then blow it out late in desperation.

Supports often have this mentality of counter ulting so they won’t ult until something happens like tire for beat , zen ult for blade etc.

This is ok but often costs the team fights if you lose people.

Tanks in general actually ult.better as they are often in the actual fight

If rest of the team doesn’t know how to play… sure. They get picked off and nobody can salvage that, especially not DPS. However, DPS who is unrelenting at pressuring enemy healers makes a world of difference. If enemy healers are scrambling to keep their teammates alive, it creates a lot of opportunities for picks and turning tide of engagement.

Let me guess: 97.8% of them are Genji mains

i dont think any tank player (except neonwight) asked for tanks to be raidbosses

I am fine with that, man. The problem is the sheer consistency of these DPS players. They do it every single fight and then our toxic queen of a Mercy is blaming ME for it and I just get demoralized and want to listen to Linkin Park as I asphyxiate on carbon monoxide.

Do not apologize to him. Tell him you will keep doing it until he loves you.

If it’s qp the matchmaker is definitely putting a low mmr dps in most games.

Guess what the other 4 players on your team think about your tankplay

Sorry maybe im being dumb can you explain what you mean by agency?

This is just not true, in most average games itll make a huge difference.

Exactly the same on tank nowadays.

I think this is purely down to stubbornness of a lot of dps not willong to adapt tbh.

DPS dont matter. I see tanks complain, 99% just stand there thinking they are tanking… something. Absorbing dmg for no reason. So in that case obviously dps need to wipe their team so that the tank can then capture the point.

This just isnt true now is it.

Guarentee even if that one stat were true the 1% of the time we try to be pro active all the DPS/supports will afk behind somewhere with hands in their pockets.

Congrats you jist explained peoples jobs, DPS getting kills and outting pressure, tank holdinf space, well done.
