It’s shocking to read, if it’s true and I think you’re not a liar, we can’t complain about players looking to abuse because it’s Blizzard giving you only the choice between abuse and be abused.
That is sadge reality of this game. I spend tons of time playing on gasillion of accounts and figured out what it actually does. The most funny thing that the devs in their recent post mentioned the opposite, like they have no clue or just straight on lying because they know what reaction they will be followed by after revealing “How does matchmaker ACTUALLY work”.
Recently be watching Awkward’s u2GM on twitch, and ppl in his chat be like "Why do you have so many loses in ow2 when it wasn’t like that in ow1 u2GMs? He was at 25-12 W/L score, his account says diamond2, in reality already playing in top100 lobbies with that diamond icon. Isn’t that an abuse from the matchmaker? The way to fix that, you need a duo handicapping this matchmaker into opposite direction setting up the limit in SR gap at your favor. So, yeah, abuse or get abused. They wanted to beat smurfing like that? What if actual player is popping-off and getting punished like that? Like you play out of your mind, win 7-10 games in a row being significant carry in all of these matches with no bias, and that what you get? MM start putting you 2-3 ranks above your displayed Rank? No,no, no. Smurfs are smart, they will do what they need and there are tons of options that devs will never cover with any sort of adjustments. Eventually, what devs only do, is making it worse for everybody with that new 7/20 or 5/15 system now with all of these fake ranks, hidden MMR, private profiles and so on.
Now what we get: ppl are silent across the ranks, nobody talks, nobody feels rewarded for their skill, they just play with a constant feeling of getting abused by the system this way or another, which is a major factor. As zarya says with her voiceline: “In Russia game plays you” which is now a reality, so I guess, welcome to Russia xD

It’s working for me, just ignore the ranks, they mean nothing anway.
But the games do feel much fairer, and I’ve had no stomp in S3 till now, most games, or more like all of them, are very close and not easy at all.
I don’t care about me getting matched against Master and Grandmasters if they are as good as I am, just ignore the rank and play.
I had a current masters dps and a current T500 players in a couple games in S2. It happens.
Maybe decayed gm players, because that is a possibility from the decay system they made
This is the biggest mistake they have made with the game. They should have published a detailed match API and let ppl report and diagram all kinds of aspect of the match like WOW. This would have created strong communities around the game instead of a single forum full of frustrated players who don’t know if they or the secret match maker are to blame for their lackluster results.

how many times I’ve heard the “The one constant in your games is you” you shill bot, you assume I’m not satisfied with my rank when I could be bronze for all I care, the only thing that matters is fun games, I have no will to get my life on hold to get better at Overwatch, I just expect the game I’m paying for to be fun, like an actual game.

Games are still absolutely busted. I don’t know what the patch did but it didn’t work. Blizzard needs to do better this garbage rarely happened in overwatch 1

Right, I have no idea why they didn’t get the part “With” as being in a group. The only supposed guarantee is that someone on the enemy team in your role will be around your MMR. Your team is a complete toss up.

This season I’ve gone gold to diamond, back to gold, back to diamond and then lost the last 7 matches so I expect it’s back to gold again. Mostly terrible lopsided games, a few close matches but nowhere near enough to be fun. I’m convinced the entire thing is now geared towards play time, low queues, shop sales. Matchmaking for a fair and balanced game doesn’t seem to factor in anymore. If you play a lot it becomes obvious. I’ve had enough to be honest. I’ve got the new PSVR coming on Wednesday, hopefully that will keep me occupied. I’ve deleted Overwatch and will hopefully never come back.

There is also a correlation between how enjoyable a game is to how much money is spent.
The matchmaking is embarrassing, what’s worse the players can see what’s going wrong, they tried to give us this fake rank… no one fell for that, they inflated gold players to GM. Last game I had a silver every season suddenly GM… I knew something was off. It’s destroying their game. Even this new improvement is rubbish, it’s putting people of 2-3 ranks together. They really are clueless. It’s simple, put everyone on both teams within 400SR. If they can’t do that because there’s not enough players then maybe they should have thought about making a fair matchmaking in S1 when there was many players.
I had a game where I was a gold dps and both teams had a gold and a top 500 dps. After starting out 0-10 I ended up with a positive KDA while the other gold dps was negative.
But their top 500 cassidy kinda shiet on us, including our top 500 dps especially in the second round so we lost. I got one nice head shot on him with Torb at least.
