Game 'rubber bands', reloads, and full disconnects

I had though forcing 8.8.8.8 as my DNS server solved this, but the issue has resurfaced, happening maybe 5 - 10 times in a single night. I have maybe a 20% change of not reloading at least once in a single game.

I have a good internet connect, with good ping, download speeds, and upload speeds. Sporadically, I get temporarily ‘disconnected’ from Overwatch when in game, which takes the form of my character rubber banding, no shots hitting, etc.

Interestingly, I can still hear voice chat from other players (sometimes) while this happens.

Latest WinMTR:
In this example I rubber banded once, and completely disconnected (unable to reload back in) after that.
From what I can read, I have no packetloss or ping issues.

I am using an ethernet connection, have tested that I am able to continuously ping the overwatch game server ( ping -t OVERWATCH.IP ), and have observed that this issue can happen without any packet loss (results from various MTR’s). Almost always there is a very high latency spike with server ae1-br02-eqsv5.as57976 .net

I have also verified that I don’t loose connection to the internet during that time.

Thanks so much for any help you can provide!

Did you try another DNS aside from Google’s? It may not be the best performing option based on your location.

I’m wondering if this is a hardware delay instead of connection-related, since the WinMTR isn’t showing any issues really (only slight lag on your ISP’s peering node that connects to Blizzard).

Have you tried HWMonitor to check for temperature spikes (not averages that most apps report)?

I have tried OpenDNS (208.67.222.222), as well as my ISPs default (Comcast’s). I watched the temps with HWMonitor, but didn’t notice any alarming spikes (judging by max temp during play). Is there something specific I should look for?

Just high max temps, or maybe the wrong voltages showing up, but you’d have to look up your hardware to know what you’re looking for. Can you post some screenshots (upload to Imgur) with all the hardware expanded in the window?
