Game region America in Battle.net becomes Europe in game

I live on the east coast of the US, I have no VPN.
When I launch my game on the launcher I have never switched off Americas.
When I open the game and search for a game on my own (without friends) I am forced into German and Dutch (Europe region) servers.
Netgraph (CTRL+SHIFT+N) shows that I’m connecting to german servers.
Gamemode doesn’t matter. Arcade-Quickplay-Competitive EVEN PRE-GAME Deathmatch!!!
When I am with my friends I match solely into American servers.
I’ve tried to port forward in order to fix the issue to no avail.
Why is this happening? I haven’t been able to play a game under 150 ping by myself since the mid-season patch.

Howdy prae,

The Overwatch game server region is determined automatically based on a few factors so in this case, it sounds like there is a routing problem happening between your computer and the US game servers.

To help us pinpoint the problem, please run a WinMTR test.

  1. Download WinMTR
  2. Unzip the file to your desktop
  3. Run the WinMTR as Admin
  4. Type 24.105.62.129 in “host”.
  5. Click “Start” and open the game. Let the MTR test run for at least 10 minutes to capture this issue occurring.
  6. Click “Copy text to clipboard”
  7. Type two sets of four squiggly lines and then paste the contents of the WinMTR test between:
    ~~~~ Paste WinMTR Test Results Here ~~~~
Note: If it’s not letting you post, break links by adding a space before .com/.net, so you can post them. You can also upload the MTR contents through Pastebin and post the link then highlight the link and press the ˂/˃ button.
Hi Zenlaka,
I haven’t played since I posted this topic last, so I just turned on Overwatch and hopped into a Quickplay match while letting MTR run. Of course, as per usual I connected to [gen1] instead of any other American server.
I ran mtr for 700 seconds exactly. This is what I got:
Any help?
Howdy prae,
I didn’t see any obvious problems that would be causing you to connect to an EU server. In this case, you may want to try uninstalling Overwatch and then delete the temporary Battle.net files. After that, try reinstalling Overwatch but I would suggest installing to a different folder location.
If that doesn’t help, you may want to try powering off the modem for 30 minutes. Otherwise, try testing another network like a mobile hotspot to see if there’s any change.
