If i dont have a VPN on i will lag out the game constantly but vpns cant keep a stable connection forever and will sometimes just lag out aswell causing me to lag out mid ranked ive done multiple tests on my internet and have changed my DNS servers multiple times praying it will work, so it literally cant be my internet thats causing the issues ive noticed it happens with the server ord1 ive had this problem for about a year and i honestly cant take it anymore.

This tells you the issue is with your ISP’s routing to that server.
Ultimately, your ISP controls the rest of the route, all you’re changing is the way hostnames are resolved. In other words, unless your ISP’s DNS was offline, this won’t help fix the issue, so there’s no need to keep changing it.
Ok, so then how do i fix it? ive run background tests when i played and i dont see anything out of the ordinary when i lose connections to the servers so i have no clue what on my side could be the issue. i did not use to have this problem but started all of a sudden like a year ago, my ISP did not change.
Your ISP would need to correct the route.
ISPs change routes based on contracts, pricing, etc., so that is probably what happened.
What all information should i have before contacting my ISP? anything specific about the server they should know?
You only need to tell them you cannot reach the Google data center in the city you normally connect to without using a VPN. If it’s in the US, then that would be Chicago or Las Vegas, or possibly both. You can land on either server depending on rank, selected mode, and available players.
It may take several calls like it did for me with my ISP.
Be aware, I am a fellow player and don’t work at Blizzard. I am relaying their current practices and policies — which came into effect over two years ago — regarding connection troubleshooting.
If this is the case, then why are multiple regions being effected?
More likely that some turd is DDOSing becasue of Blizzcon.
There will always be someone in every single game forum on the internet complaining about a connection issue. That does not mean an entire region is experiencing issues.
