not sure if hit detection lag is the right term but i would shoot someone and the hit detection would register like 0.5-1.0 seconds later. basically making the game unplayable
updated my drivers today now i cant connect…at all to a match, even the practice range. dont know if this is an everyone thing or just a me thing
Check your latency in game, cntrl+shift+N loads up the network panel while in a match. OW tends to favor the shooter, so you’re hitting them on your screen but because of the lag it doesn’t register until later. The servers have been off the past few weeks, I can go from 30ms in one match to 320ms the next.
my latency is fine, and ive been playing the game since near OW1 launch. this doesnt feel ‘normal’. like i swing reins hammer, it doesnt register the hit like before until the hammer animation is far to the side of the screen, even if i hit them to the middle/right of my screen
the only thing i can think of is i got a new 5070 TI GPU and a fresh installation of windows. OW isnt the only game im having issues with, been playing Rivals as well and it was crashing every couple matches until i downgraded my driver to the prior one.
OW has been having this problem no matter what driver version i have been using. im not very tech savvy so its going over my head
the latency tool ingame is not accurate. I’ve literally had my character rubberband through floors or being stuck followed by a disconnect while it didn’t show anything unusual. the servers have definitively tanked since the midseason patch, although there were always issues, since ow2’s release. If you are lucky you don’t have or only minor server issues. I’ve had 3 years of this having changed all my equipement and internet plan, it’s still happening and worsening after some of the patches. this is just my experience and I’m playing on XSS.
